Re: International bike swaps.
Is a non starter for me as not likely to go to OZ, USA, NZ so it would be rather a one way deal, and as the loanee would be putting an as yet unspecified amount of miles, wear and tear on the bike..I would want some financial charge to apply to cover this. But the bottom line is that I would not wan...

Re: brake failure light
Well Slowvet, I have been called many things, but never a cat surely that's an old 'beatnik' phrase from the sixties or even earlier. You just reminded me of the old TV Series 77 Sunset Strip, wow now that's going back sometime, do you cats remember it? Hey this is catching Cats remind me of Topcat...

Re: 1st year Service
When I booked mine in over the phone they didn't even ask the mileage, just took it as a first year /6000 service.

Re: 1st year Service
Had 6k service a couple of weeks ago - cost £205 - 6500 on the clock, just over a year from new.
Was given same figure by 2 dealers so sounds like the going rate.

Re: WW1 & WW2 sites
Am thinking of something similar, go via Chunnel and WW1 remembrance first and start in Ypres area, hopefully attend a ceremony at the Menin gate http://www.toerisme-ieper.be/en http://www.inflandersfields.be/en Then over to Peronne for the Museum and Somme Battlefields Tour https://www.go...

Re: RTWC rear brake pad wear
Advisory comment from North Oxford BMW after completing 6000 service today was that rear brake pad down to 2 mm and will need replacement soon. This at 6400 miles, including 2300 in France and Alps. Never had as heavy a bike as RT on the mountain roads but would guess that some spirited riding these...

Re: Off to Spain soon
Fair comment, but on this occasion the journey from Jaca to Durango was also pretty crap. Chucked it down with rain for most of the day, road closures and some bad surfaces on some of the detours. So was looking for a nice overnighter on what was our last night of the trip. Turned out to be the wors...

Re: Off to Spain soon
Ha ha, just spotted your response Spencert231. Durango was more like the (no) good, the (very) bad and (loads of) the ugly.
Worse nights choice for stopover on bike trip ever. But it was very cheap.

Re: Iberian Peninsula
Sounds epic, was going to do something similar last year but decided against it as we were limited to 10 days and like a couple of days where we can ride luggage free. So we did a figure of eight from Santander taking in Pecos and then over to Andorra for the Pyrenees. Another factor against the gra...
