Beware of what has been previously said re the likelihood of damaging the (nut) threads if you repeatedly remove and re-insert the screen retaining bolts/screws!! ;)

Especially important if he is only removing 4 screws. Since 6 hold the windshield onto the mechanism...........

Re: How is the new RT in hot weather?

The answer is.....The new RT is quite good in hot weather. Yes, it has really good leg and body protections from wind. But what really gets you on many bikes is where does the heat from the engine go? Meaning heat from the radiators ( both oil and water ) can direct heat onto the rider and make for ...

Re: Touring Screen

How does that work then? If the screen is cheaper from the manufacturer and you still have to pay international shipping from both companies, how is Werks cheaper? Unless I have read the site wrong (which I could have) and Werks ship internationally within the cost of the screen! The screen is not ...

Re: New seat - options

I have spent a fortune on aftermarket seats and miracle devices that sit on top of seats. From new to buying used on the forums. One thing that is constant, the Russell Day-long seats are by far the most comfortable for LONG RIDES. Even one that is not custom made is more comfortable than the off th...

Re: Scratches on the screen

Any screen is going to get scratches as the miles pile up. The 2014 and up RT, and I think the earlier models as well, have polycarbonate screens which require and anti scratch coating as polycarbonate is soft. Once you scratch the "anti scratch" coating there is nothing you can do to elim...

Re: Purchase of 2016 BMW 1200 RT

No. Not a little paranoid. Paranoia by the gross might cover it. I have yet to see a post where a new RT has been towed due to breakdown. Issues? None that seem to be in the reliability column. Issues having to do with owners figuring out how to work the controls and features? Name a bike that doesn...
