Re: Options for fitting non-BMW lights to an LC
I'm considering fitting some spot lights onto my RT and running them from an EzCan. The electronics side seems pretty straight forward but I'm wondering how to mount the spots. All the videos I have seem involve mounting the lights on engine bars which I don't have. Has anyone fitted spots to an LC...

Re: Nav VI Media Player
There is a thread somewhere on this forum that talks about how to defeat BMW's disabling of the media player on the Nav V. It involves putting a small piece of electrical tape on one of the pins where it connects to the nav cradle. Probably in the audio section.

Re: Motorcyle trip from Alberta, Canada to South Utah
thanks Tim! The software I used was CyberLink PowerDirector 15. Works really well and pretty easy to use after about an hour of mucking around. There are some good YouTube help videos. My action cam is a cheap one from China called SJCAM. What I liked about that camera is it is the smallest one on ...

Re: Motorcyle trip from Alberta, Canada to South Utah
Great video, agreed! I'm curious what kind of software you used to mix the video and stills, and were you using a GoPro camera? I'm departing Portland, OR. this Friday for a trip to Yellowstone national park. Would love to create a similar video myself when I get back.

Re: Hex EzCan Install
Thanks for the responses. I just spoke with Matt, the "gear head" at Twisted Throttle. Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Turns out that the EZ-Can can be plugged in anywhere in-line to the Can-bus, it does not have to go into the RDC.&nb...

Re: Emergency key for keyless
Why would you need the plastic emergency key for a non keyless bike? What do you do with it?slparry wrote: you can order them for any BMW not just the keyless ones

Rubber care
What do you use to clean and preserve the rubber pieces on your RT? I'm referring mostly to the dust boots on the swing-arm, but there are other flexible pieces as well. The manual discourages the use of silicon-based products: "Rubber parts - Treat rubber parts with water o...

Welcome to the forum. I'm on several of these forums, and this is the best by far. I have family in Phoenix and get down there occasionally.

Re: lock pins
No time to get to dealer in next couple weeks. If can't find one will just miss one out and shove lock in Dealer will definitely have a pile of them. Be cautious not to slide the cylinder into the topcase unless you are certain the key will turn it. They are a bear to remove onc...

Re: 2016 RT With A Rear Car Tire
My point was more that there is potentially some rationale to the above in the USA where it is possible to drive for many hundreds of miles without meeting what we would call a bend. By comparison the UK just doesn't have roads like that. I'm sure the USA has some twisty roads, but as a country of ...

Re: 2017 OBD-II Port
Maybe they use both: The use of CAN bus (Controller Area Network) and LIN bus technology (Local Interconnect Network) enables significantly reduced wiring as compared to a conventional system. This also reduces potential error sources as may occur in conventional vehicle electrical systems due to t...

Re: 2017 OBD-II Port
Thought BMW were using Linbus, as this is a cheaper solution! Nope, it's CANBus. Learned a lot about this (more than I cared to know) when I had to buy a CANOpener module from Clearwater lights to make the brake light work for my top case. Also, does BMW *EVER* do the cheaper solution?!?&...

Re: 2017 OBD-II Port
The canbus network on your bike has several places that you connect into, the round plug is one, the TPMS sensor plug is another, and also the OBD port. Canbus (SAE J2480) is the protocol, and OBDII is the specification for the plug style.

Re: MyRoute-app web
I despise Basecamp, even on the Mac. I have been using a different website called MotoGoLoco for the past year, it is probably similar to MyRoute. Creating routes is far simpler, and then you export a .gpx file that can be uploaded to your Garmin device. Also supports T...
