Re: Disc lock.
If I am leaving the bike outside overnight away from home I use a chain around the crossbar of the centre stand, through the front wheel and back. Then I take up the slack by rotating the wheel forward and finishing off by putting a disc lock on between the caliper and the fork leg. It's a right pal...

Re: Potential Beemer Guy - Advice on pending purchase
Having had both hex head and twin cam GSs and now an RTlc i'm happy that the lc motor is the better of the three, performance wise. Reliability wise, only time will tell.

Re: Fuel economy
Sorry, I should have added that it was showing 70.4 in normal mode and I wondered whether it would make any difference. The change was made about halfway through.

Fuel economy
Just for fun. I went out for a ride this morning with friends, one of whom was on a 300cc twist and go. We covered over 125 miles around the highways and byways of East Kent. Our top speed was probably about 65mph. The picture shows the mpg average, not instant. According to the app on my phone the ...

Re: Weather protection kit fitting
I had the same issue in that these two screws were very tight. In fact one was so tight that I ended up stripping the splines off the screw head. I ended up drilling the screw out but this made what was left of the thread too loose. So I used the longer screw from the right hand side to replace it a...

Re: Going to buy
Have you checked the height adjuster plate under the seat?
The seat front mount sits on it. It has two positions which are changed simply by turning the adjuster plate up side down.

Re: Deep clean
If you have a reasonable piece of thin ply wood floating around, try drilling holes 0.5 mm smaller than the screw size which the screws will self tap into thus holding them secure. You should also have space to label each screw hole and if stored the board will be available for next strip down.

Protection for manuals
I didn't know quite which forum to put this in so here it is. The plastic wallet that my owners manual came in started to fall apart so I was looking for a suitable replacement. During a visit to Mountain Warehouse I came across this waterproof bag at £3.99, but on a BOGOF offer so effectively £2.00...

Re: Top box strip
Thanks for that info. I've removed the screws holding the back rest cushion on but quite how to proceed from there I'm not sure. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Top box strip
Has anyone stripped a 49l none electric top box down for spraying the grey panel?
Sorry if this is an old topic but I haven't been able to find an answer.

Tools
Further to earlier posts on tools, I found this kit at a tool show, at about £70 it wasn't the cheapest kit around but I felt that it was good quality and bits are available separately. It is made by Wera Tools. Funnily enough, the only time it's been used in anger was using one of the bits to adjus...

Re: iPhone 5 Nav v and Scala headset
I think I may have it sussed. First, phone hooked up to satnav, second, headset channel one hooked up to bike, third second channel on headset hooked up to satnav. At least I think that's how I did it. I was then able to make and receive calls with radio on and phone overriding radio when necessary.
