Re: HAYNES MANUAL

I have had the Haynes manual for about 3 months now it is way more comprehensive than just basic stuff and for the money it's a very useful tool. Paper is megacrap though.

Re: He's had a Good Day

There was another one recently of a French cop on a FJ1300 doing an ambulance escort, stood up and waving at traffic with both arms, better men than me!

Re: Navigator VI available soon

I read somewhere recently that the coming generation of Garmin car satnavs have features that work from a road facing camera to record the journey , read roadsigns and warn if you are closing in on the vehicle in front. I know we all do that anyway but technology feels it can assist.

Re: Polaris finishing production of Victory Motorcycles

Imagine if the RT didn't have the wonderwheel and menu driven options how many buttons and how much wire compared to a 'Wing. Also having so many switches out in the open as with the 'Wing invites failure, but do they fail on a Honda? I guess their forum would tell.

Re: Touring abroad

I've been down to Spain about 6 times and a while ago my group settled on the ferry to Bilbao or Santander, it is actually cheaper than the fuel and hotels going down through France, although France is great just blasting through it is not. The Spanish roads are really good and empty so very safe. S...

Re: Identity Tag

I like the idea of these but don't know where to carry it, my bike is keyless so that's out, I could put it round my neck but imagine the irony of being strangled by your own ID tag!

Re: RT Models since 1978

Way back in the '70s I rode R60 R75 and then the first of the R80 with an Avon fairing which felt as if it was miles in front of the bike and didn't handle at speed. Then came the R80RTP a good all round bike at that time I bought my first BMW and R100S which I loved out on the open road though it w...

Engine colour

There is an RT group on Facebook that I follow,  where there is a chap with a brand new RT in white but has silver engine and running gear, I thought they were all black now. Strange.

Re: Main display change to speedo?

+1 for Planet Rock, sadly can't get it on the bike although I did have a gadget on my old 1600 which played it through the FM, never all that successful though.

Re: 2010 RT - Swichgear

The electrical load is probably controlled by the Canbus so not a physical fuse. It may be worth having a look along the wiring to see if there is a joint or plug and give that a dose of switch spray. If the handle bar switch cluster has failed it performs several functions any one of which may have...

Re: Should I be worried about this?

It may be that the modern water based paint systems are not as good as the older spirit/oil based ones. They will doubtless improve in time, meanwhile we do the R&D at our own expense.

I had a Givi on my old Pan 1100, people asked what is a 'Monkey System', that cleaned off with a bit of paint thinners !
