Re: has anyone re-mapped their ECU??

I'm one of the many people who would like to believe that a session at Hilltop would make my LC smoother, faster and more economical.  However, I'm a natural cynic and : 1.  My LC is already extremely economical (rarely less than 50mpg, regularly 55mpg and occasionally 60mpg. 2.&am...

Re: Road Rag

Maybe different in the US, but in 50 years of riding in Europe I have never experienced road rage against me on a motorcycle. I have got annoyed at people that start to pull out and don't see me, but ..... That has been my experience too. I've seen lots of crazy stuff on YouTube, but not personally.

Re: Retro fits

I think you'll find the high level brake light is a straightforward retro-fit, the corona lights probably not !

Re: R1250rt oil warning error

Problem solved through drastic step of replacing the engine. Apparently one other bike - in Germany - has the same intractable problem. So they have shipped my engine back to Germany for intensive investigation. Thank you Motorrad - astonishingly good customer service. Wow !  Running in ag...

Re: Tyre choices

If heading abroad I have always taken the view that trying to get the last out of a tyre isn't worth the worry of punctures, dodgy handling or lack of wet grip.  Half worn tyres have been replaced with new on more than one occasion.  That way, I can head off for a 3000 mile trip wi...

Re: New BMW - not an RT

I’ve got a ‘13 F800GT sharing the garage with my RT. Fun bike. Light, agile, 90 hp, 470 lbs, belt, factory panniers and top case, ABS, ESA, 70 mpg. Once the RT becomes too much, the F-GT will become the alpha-male. I liked the F800GT. The belt drive would be good on long trips, and I hope I can get...

Re: New BMW - not an RT

Did you find the ergonomics of the F900XR OK? I was completely comfortable for 130 miles - apart from the hard seat. Did you get the BMW offer of £1000 or £500 top up on part ex, is this applied to a bike supplied in September? I was quite happy with the deal I negotiated. I got more than I was exp...

New BMW - not an RT

I've been coming around slowly to the realisation that my much loved R1200RT LC is becoming too much of a struggle for me to push or paddle around. Other bikes I have considered have included Versys 650, NC750X, KTM 790,Tiger 900GT and Yamaha Tracers and, recently, F900RX. I had a test ride on a fai...

Re: Base Camp vs. Tourstart

.....  Tourstart - accessed online and with a phone app.  This is a breeze to use.  I can very easily plan a route online in minutes and download it to a nav unit......  The phone app will give you turn-by-turn audio but will not allow you to send to a GPS which ...

No problem - there's always Booking.com !  ;D
I'll probably be travelling with my brother, so any wayside inn with rooms will be checked out .....

Re: Post-lockdown tour

Out of interest, may I ask where you are thinking of visiting in Co. Durham. I've lived close to either side of the River Tees all my life. When heading North and crossing the river, I like the signage which says, "Historic County of County Durham". Some time ago, a BM rider I know recomm...
