Talked to the Shad rep. and didn't really get the answer I was looking for. I think I will go with the newer mount and drill the required holes. That way I would know it is secure going forward as well that is the way a few others here on the forum have done it with excellent results.

Quite possibly yes. That is a great point as perhaps underneath may be different, therefore requiring the different mounts.

Re: Rear Racks the same? 2009-2013 vs. 2014-2017?
I would assume both rear racks are the same, seeing that the OEM cases fit those years. Perhaps Shad just made an improvement with the newer type of mount. Will try to phone Shad and get some clarification.

Rear Racks the same? 2009-2013 vs. 2014-2017?
Hi, I am looking to purchase a Shad SH50 top case but they offer 2 different mounting brackets. One is for the older model of RT (2009-2013; W0RT19ST) and one is for the newer models (2014-2017; W0RT14ST). The mount for the newer model requires you to drill into the rear rack, something I would not ...

Re: Heed Engine Crash Bars
I just ordered a set of crash bars for my 2015 RT. $338 CAD, how can you beat that! Amazing price and so far a great company to deal with. Looking forward to receiving them and putting them on. Will post some pictures once on.

thanks all for your input. Guess I will have to figure out my priorities and decide what I can live with or without when choosing what I should purchase and what is affordable.
Cheers.

Re: Sena 10R - handelbar remote needed?
I think you have the basics right, but you might be disappointed with the quality of Bluetooth for music via the GPS. When I pair the iPhone direct to the BMW Helmet the sound is very good, but when via the GPS it's very poor. Also, when I use the direct connection to the bike and then Bluetooth th...

Sena 10R - handelbar remote needed?
Hi, I am new to the 'helmet communication' so have a few questions. I will be purchasing the Nav V or the new Nav VI (when it comes out, not sure when) and from what I have read that unit controls phone calls, GPS, music. Essentially the GPS unit becomes the smart hub in a way. From what I have seen...

Re: C3 Pro or System 6 Evo?
I haven't tried any of the flip-up helmets as of yet but the new C4 is coming out this spring. That may be worth checking out. It comes with integrated speakers and microphone so it is set-up to use their new communication system. https://www.schuberth.com/en/products/motorbikes/helmets/c4.html Chee...

Planning a 10 day trip in July from Cochrane, Alberta to Zion National Park in Utah. Make a quick run to the Grand Canyon in Northern Arizona and then home stopping through Yellowstone and Glacier National Park. Should be awesome! I took my Triumph Bonneville to California last summer so l...

Re: An autumn tour
Just put 1100 miles on the RT here... Nice! Fall rides are some of the best...no bugs! :-) I went on a nice ride near my home close to the Rockies 2 weeks ago. Went up to over 8000 feet high and it was quite cold out but with heated grips, heated seat and a heated jacket liner could have ridden for...

Re: Motorcycle Jeans
Hi there, I was in the same boat when travelling in the summer to California. The thing with Kevlar lined jeans is they all fit different. I tried on probably 10 pairs and some I couldn't even get over my thighs, very strange fitting depending on the company. I did find a pair that fit like regular ...

Re: Bluetooth earbuds linked to audio system
Interesting idea. Of course you will have the same limitations as all non-BMW BT kits in that you cannot control volume with the wonder-wheel. Do you have any difficulty controlling the volume, how about using the mic for talking on the phone? I haven't actually road tested the set-up yet. I tested...

Re: Bluetooth earbuds linked to audio system
Just wanted to add, the earbuds allow 2 Bluetooth connections and that will allow phone calls and the ability to listen to music via the bikes audio system. One connection for the bike, the other to your phone. I don't have the Nav V unit yet so this is a great solution to those in a similar situati...
