RTWC rear brake pad wear

Recently got back from 2700mile trip around Europe. When I left the bike had 3500 miles on it and all brake pads were hardly worn. Now with just over 6000 miles the front are still hardly worn but the back need replacing!! I have never had to replace pads before 15/20,000 miles on previous bikes. Ha...

Re: Intermittent Starting Issue

Got it sorted thanks, now in Croatia and it's hot and sunny. First time here and it's a lovely country, enjoying our first long trip on the RT.  It's going well and returning 58 mpg even though we haven't been hanging about.

Re: Intermittent Starting Issue

As with my previous bikes I always give the throttle a little blip before starting only about an eighth of a turn it's always seems to aid starting. I then leave the throttle closed when pressing the start button. FYI it's raining here in Austria hope it improves!

Re: RTWC Alarm

Thanks! I guessed the drain wouldn't be significant I was just interested to see how long others had kept the bike alarmed for at any one time.

RTWC Alarm

How long has anyone left their 2014/15 RT alarm continuously set and did it significantly drain the battery? I ask as when I am on holiday the bike may be left at the hotel unused for upto 3 days with the alarm set.

Re: Bridgestone Battlax BT 021

The handbook that came with the bike page 124 just says remove studs then roll wheel out towards the rear. It' a pity the exhaust wasn't shaped in slightly then I think the tyre would pass between the disc and the exhaust.

Re: Bridgestone Battlax BT 021

After 3500 miles I have just changed my half worn conti's for pr4 s. The main reason is unusual wear on the back. When I put my tyre depth gauge across the side treads one side was 1 mm lower, I wouldn't call it cupping it was more like stepping. The front seemed to be wearing evenly. I did about 10...

Re: Ultra Seal

Tried ultra seal in the past and on two occasions when the tyres have been changed the ultra seal was found to have separated ie water and a ball of what I guess was the remains of what was mixed in to seal any hole in the tyre. I now carry a Stop and Go kit that has worked well in the past with bot...

Re: Bmw System 6, schuberth c3 or Shoei helmet?

It' worth checking out the Shoei Neotech. I fitted Autocom in ours, there are removable pads for the installation of speakers. Make sure you have the correct cheek pad size, they can cause jaw ache if they pinch too much, best get it right to retro fit later can be expensive. Ours came with pinlock'...

Re: Conti Tire Recall - check your front Tire

Thanks, I ride fast progressive but fairly smoothly, try to avoid motorways. It looks like it will be borderline it has 4mm at present. Was it down to the wear bars or close to illegal when you changed it?

Re: Conti Tire Recall - check your front Tire

Hi Pope - Did you get 8000 miles out of your rear as well as your front. I ask because being new to "Sport Tourers" i have no experience of tire life and next month will be going on hols expecting to do around 2800 miles on top of the 4000 i presently have. I have checked with my dealer ab...

Re: Bike Cleaning Tools and other Favourites

To wash the bike I use a 7 liter garden sprayer (Hozelock) with a large 4 or 6 inch soft paintbrush. This enables me to get into all the grooves and places that you can't reach with a cloth. The garden spray enables me to get around the swing arm, suspension areas and inside the fairing etc. without...

Re: Pillion

Got intercom but don't need to warn the Wife of overtakes. After over 40 years of riding pillion behind me she knows if there is anything impeding progress ahead, it will be overtaken at the first safe opportunity!
She loves overtakes and can now predict exactly what i will do.
