Re: Centre stand removal
I did consider a cable tidy but I wasn’t sure it would hold. The tie wraps look to work well! Thinking back to my school days, I wonder if hot dip coating into a fluidised polymer powder would work. You could cut off any excess and just leave the cross member. It worked well on my bottle opener in M...

Re: Centre stand removal
Actually, I’ve ordered some PVC tubing. It’s 20mm internal diameter and I am going to slit it lengthwise and see if it will stay in place and offer a first line of defence against road cr*p. Not sure if it will cause a water trap or even hold its shape but worth a try.

Re: Hi from GB
My bike didn’t come with quick shift. I believe it’s optional on some models so if that’s what you need make sure you confirm before purchase.

Re: Hi from GB
Welcome.
I returned to Beemers after 17 years on a VFR. The biggest changes for me are:-
1. Remember to take a more relaxed approach to gear changes, it’s a big shafty, ride the torque.
2. The comfort.
3. Seeing so much more as you ride.
Come on in, the water’s fine!

Re: Centre stand removal
So the Powder Coaters were shut over the weekend, I had time on my hands and a rattle can of Hammerite smooth gloss left over from a previous project. I’ve always had good results with this stuff and whilst I would prefer a satin finish I had a tin of gloss just sitting on the shelf in garage. IMG_5...

Re: Centre stand removal
I am tempted to have a go with some hammerite smooth satin black I’ve got in the garage. I’ve also got a rattle can of the stuff as I’ve always had good results. However, it’s still a bit cold and it might be reluctant to create a hard surface. A company called Vulcan Stove enamelling are local so I...

Centre stand removal
R1200RT LC 2017. New to me but the state of the centre stand is really bugging me. Removing the spring is a challenge but the multiple washers method works well. Thought I would share…

Re: Hello from a bracing West Sussex, UK
Not available midweek, but definitely keen on a weekend coffee meet at some point. I’ve just spent 4 hour polishing the bloody exhaust system. I know it will discolour as soon as l turn my back.

Hello from a bracing West Sussex, UK
Hi, I’ve been loitering around the forum for a couple of Weeks and whilst I am waiting for my tea to brew and my heater to warm up my garage, I thought I would introduce myself to the RT forum. I bought my 2017 R1200RT LC (16k mileage) a couple of weeks ago and I am just beginning to start to unders...

Re: R&G Racing - Engine bars
Okay, update! Turns out if you it is cold and dark in your garage, and something isn’t fitting right, walk away and take another look in daylight. Turns out the spring retention bolt was just a little bit loose. That raised it a tad and stopped the frame sitting in position. The tolerance on the ass...

Re: R&G Racing - Engine bars
Hi, I think the photo misleads a tad. I’ve put the spacers in place and just offered the frame up loosely in the photo. The spacers give enough clearance for the frame ‘lugs’ or folds if that’s a better description but it won’t clear the Sidestand bolt head. It was getting cold, late and dark when I...

R&G Racing - Engine bars
Hi, New to the forum and still getting to know my R1200RT. I’ve bought a set of the R&G engine bars but I’ve hit a problem fitting them to the bike. The righthand side fits no problem, but the lefthand side doesn’t fit properly. I can’t see what I am doing wrong, but back support section of the ...
