Re: Easy Access to Battery for Trickle-Charging over the Winter.

The Optimate 4 is ideal for this. Using the BMW Din plug lead connected to the bikes accessory socket you can leave it permanently connected while the bike is being stored for winter.

Re: Garmin Nav 6 'My Motorcycle' App

That's correct, took my Nav 5 from '14 without radio..... no My motorcycle. Put on '17 with radio.... Full My motorcycle features. Yes, it's definitely not a Garmin issue but is a software issue on the bike. If I put my Nav V on a GS the App is there but not on my RT, a Dec 16 without Audio. Previo...

Re: Best bike magazine s

Ride, Motorcycle Sport & Leisure, MCN, Bike. Ride is the best by far, mainly due to Simon Weir's efforts such as his touring articles and downloadable routes. Even better I can read them all, and others, on my employers intranet for free!

Re: Garmin Nav 6 'My Motorcycle' App

I mentioned this when I took my bike for its first Major Service (12000 miles) at CW Motorrad Dorchester. Although they were very helpful otherwise they were unaware of any problem regarding the app, and knew nothing of a "patch". What is certain is that it's not a Garmin problem. I think ...

Re: 2019 Road trip Spain - Santander to Portbou and return

Not far from the N260/240 are some lovely Parador hotels which are biker friendly and in amazing locations, such as Parador Sos de Rey Catolico and Parador Argomaniz. A must stay is Parador Bielsa https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181119/c9f72bd22ff68765fb636d617696a047.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk...

Re: R1250RT

Not very convincing, I think the telling statement was when he said how he had ridden the 1200 and didn't think it was missing anything. To describe the 1200 as a bit breathless at the top end is a bit irrelevant, especially on the GS which is after all a giant trail bike. If they had stuck to sayin...

Re: BMW Warranty

so an update, had a call from the Motorrad Centre and they have confirmed that the engine will be replaced under warranty. Don't have the full details around what was found, but BMW UK gave them the go ahead to investigate further. One happy customer tonight, shame it's taken so long to get to this...

Re: Which Screen ?

I've used the Wunderlich Touring screen for the last two years and found it very good, far better than the standard screen. Available from https://www.nippynormans.com/r1200rt-lc ... lc-2014-on

Re: Exhaust flap

Interesting. However I think if you leave the motor connected but just remove the cables then the system sees no fault because the actuator motor is still working. If someone has done this maybe they can confirm it. I share your logic but going on previous experience (on a Aprilia) simply removing ...

Re: BMW Warranty

Sorry to hear your bad news with the engine. It would seem that your argument is that there was no indication of low oil level to warn you of the impending damage. Unfortunately I think BMW will probably maintain that the oil level should be checked at the sightglass regularly. With even a very low ...

Thanks for info nice one. https://www.blackwidowexhausts.co.uk/bmw-r1200rt-watercooled-de-cat-downpipes-collector-2013-2018-23792-p.asp If mine goes this is what I will do. Only thought is would the bike need re-mapping. However if it does still cheaper than OEM replacement. Interesting link, altho...

Re: 2018 GS Adventure vs 2018 RT

It does seem a bit strange that you bought an enormous trail bike that required lowering in preference to the RT which, with the low seat option, would probably have suited you much better. Unless of course you do go off-road, but even then a GS Adv is so big you'd find it impossible to pick up on y...

Re: Best Tour

My vote would be South Island, New Zealand. Fabulous roads, sights and people and such a lot of space with very little traffic. Several companies offer bikes for hire, we had a 1200RT for ten days and had a very memorable trip. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180828/86510918632a558c7224c1496e8d79...
