Re: Main display change to speedo?

Vehicle speedometers will always over-read slightly. That's because if they under-read then the manufacturer would be liable for people breaking the law. So they play it on the safe side (who can blame them). My RT under-reads by around 2 mph, compared with my 5-series which is by 3 mph. What I fin...

Re: Priority a droit whilst motorcycling in France

I have seen B reg cars tailgating mainly on A6 A7 auto routes as well as travelling at really high speeds. I discussed this with my friend (and a F800GS rider)  he told me the Belgians were renowned for tailgating - and not moving over!  So I was wrong! High Speeds?  Belg...

Re: Priority a droit whilst motorcycling in France

From what I have seen.  Tailgating is the preferred French method of "persuading" someone to either move out of the way, or speed up. I would also query on the Belgians tailgating.  I can't say I have noticed tailgating, where has it been seen?  In the South (Fre...

Re: German Bike Friendly Hotels

We travelled in that area a few years back.  Fantastic motorcycling terrain. The plan was to go with the bike, however the switchgear issue raised its ugly head and prevented us from taking the bike. What we did see was so many hotels, with the sign - Motorcyclists welcome.  So I d...

Re: Which bluetooth?

After fighting with the Scala Rider G4, I eventually gave up on Cardo & Switched to Sena. The SMH10 has lasted for a 3+ years until during a software update it bricked.  I contacted Sena, and instead of an expected discount on a replacement, as I had hoped, they replaced the device. Whe...

Re: I.C.E. Details

I have ICE details as a notification on the smartphone.  This way if the screen is visible, then the details are easily seen.  No unlocking of the phone necessary. I also have a ICE card stored on the jacket which was given to me by Klim when I bought their Badlands jacket.&nbs...

Re: Motor vehicles other than motorcycles

Our car (Ford) also has automatic lights.  SWMBO is the designated driver - far too many wheels for my tastes - noticed that in fog the lights were not one, so she switched them to manual & then activated the fog lights. As a wife to a bike rider she is aware of the dangers, and tries t...

If you know who Ena Sharples is: then your age is showing.

One of the first things I did with my smart phones is place an ICE notification on the  lock screen.

Re: Fuel reserve

When I do the route planning - I go for 300km before planning a fuel stop.  This way, I estimate I have about 100km before I get to"Oh dear I have to start pushing"

So far - I have never run out of petrol, and I get to choose where I fill up & what the price is!

When I purchased a Klim Badlands Jacket - they offered to create a ICE card.

I have taken them up on the offer, and carry it in a special pocket on the sleeve.

Klim Badlands. Recently replaced my 18 year old Daineese goretex set with a Klim Badlands, as my butt started to get wet in heavy rain. You can see I don't change my gear very often, so I spent a fear amount of time on research prior to making up my mind. I have used it for one season only, and hav...

Re: Top Box vs Panniers

In my view the fitting in of full-face helmets is something of a subjective topic. For example, while the panniers on my RT do technically hold my Shoei Neotec, I have to remove the external Bluetooth unit to stop it from getting squashed. So the fit is extremely tight, and I can't get much else in...
