Live feed for camera

I want to fit a camera to my bike but I want the live feed to be switched. I intend to take the feed from the rear power socket. Can anyone tell me what colour the live wire is in order for me to tap into it.

Re: Rukka Gloves

I've got a pair and found that they’re really good, kept my hands dry. I’ve not experienced cold hands, though that could be riding with the heated grips on max and I’ve ridden in some really cold weather with work.

Re: Final drive oil leak?

You're right, the dealer got the bike from Alan Jeffries. They’ve had to take it to them as they didn’t have the special tools needed for the job. I spoke to them on Thursday and the part was due to arrive on Friday. Hopefully I’ll have it back the beginning of next week, they’ve had it for 3 weeks ...

Re: Sonic Comms and Starcom1 Digital

I haven't got one, there's four wires, two black and one blue one red. I've sorted out which wire does what, blue is for the ear pieces and red for the mic. As I've said I've had it connected to a radio on my old Deauville and it worked fine. I didn't have the Starcom system then. I'm assuming that ...

Re: Sonic Comms and Starcom1 Digital

I've got a Starcom headset and it works fine, it’s the pins that are the problem. They're so weak and bend easy, hence the reason for wanting to change. The sonic is a straight forward plug in, none of the fiddling lining up the pins as the Starcom system is. The wiring diagram is the one that I fou...

Re: Sonic Comms and Starcom1 Digital

I've connected the Starcom plug to the Sonic socket by joining both speaker wires from the Starcom to the sonic and I've connected the mic to the mic wires. This according to the wiring diagram that I found after a google search. Obviously I'm putting 6 wires into 4. When I plug the Starcom plug int...

Re: Final drive oil leak?

Just by way of an update the bike is back at the dealers, not with an oil leak. When I got home from RTTW I was pushing the bike around and the drive shaft was making a hell of a creaking noise. The dealer said that "it wasn't right" and took it in. The upshot is new bearings in the drive ...

Sonic Comms and Starcom1 Digital

I currently have a Starcom1 digital comms kit fitted to my RT. I have a Shoei helmet with Sonic comms kit fitted, it's an ex-police one, I've also got the Sonic socket to plug the helmet into. I've tried to convert a Starcom lead so that the helmet will work. The Sonic socket has four wires and the ...

Re: Final drive oil leak?

Just picked up my bike from the dealer they can’t find a leak and the oil level was okay.  They did say that they thought that the seal hadn’t been changed as they had to use a rubber mallet to get the wheel off.  They also said that the oil looked very dirty to say that it had onl...

Re: Final drive oil leak?

From what the dealer told me the seal replaced in France would be. I’ve checked the paperwork that came with the bike and it had only done 1400 miles since it’d been changed. This time it’s even less, just a few hundred!  The dealer collected the bike yesterday to examine what the problem i...

Re: Final drive oil leak?

Back from France now and the bad news is that the oil seal is leaking again.  There’s also a clicking sound from the drive shaft when weight is on the wheel, when the bike is on the centre stand and the wheel is turned there’s nothing.  There’s uneven wear on the rear tyre.&nbs...

Re: Final drive oil leak?

Thanks for the response.  I’m currently in France so I’ve popped down to the local BMW dealer in Arras.  The result is seal had gone and they’ve replaced it.  Didn’t say which one though, they said it was caused by over filling.  They’ve given me some more news in...

Final drive oil leak?

I’m new to BMW, been a Honda man.  I’ve recently purchased an R1200RT and I’ve noticed some oil on the back wheel, not a lot but it’s there.  Also around the end of the shaft, behind the wheel there’s small amounts.  I’ve wiped it and it smells like gear oil. The previous...
