PR4's, they work great in the dry but the Roadtecs are noticeably better in damp and wet conditions. Without checking I think they also have indicators close to the centre.

Re: Michelin Pilot Road 2
Dare I suggest the Roadtec 01's? I fitted them to me 2011 RT and they were excellent, so much so that I also put them on my cbr600 with the same result. I was going to wait for the stock tyres to wear out on my 1250 but after 1500 miles I'm considering changing now.

Re: RT for 2021
Although the release info does mention a 'Double tone fanfare' so I guess that is legit.

Innovv K2 Installation
Just finished installing the Innovv K2 on a 1250RT, thought I would upload some pics in case it is of any use to someone. Front camera is bolted to the vent guide on the bottom of the headlight (bracket fits nicely in here), rear camera is bolted into the rear luggage carrier. DVR is fitted into the...

Re: RT for 2021
Did someone mention backlit buttons? That would be a nice touch but haven't seen anything about it other than a mention here.

The middle screw is longer and does indeed screw into a rubber bushing

Re: 2011 R1200RT: Heated grips too hot on high setting/
Not that I ride my bike in the Winter, I'd have to agree that the grips do appear to feel like they indeed do have two heat settings. The basic wiring diagram in the Haynes Manual only shows a two position switch and a coil for the heated grip. Between the two is the ZFE central electronics unit, p...

Re: “NEW” 2011 RT, question on oil level sight window
Im not being argumentative either, love a good debate! The thermostat opens to allow pressurized oil up and into the cooler ad the outlet of the cooler will drop back into the pan by either oil pressure or when the engine is off then gravity, the system is unlikely to be vacuum locked due to the dia...

Re: “NEW” 2011 RT, question on oil level sight window
The point i am making is that the oil cooler and the rest of the engine will empty if its cold or hot, just at a different rate, whether that is relevant or useful is up to whomever, but it is factual nonetheless. The notion that oil is locked away somehow, isn't. The horizontal part is very importa...

Re: “NEW” 2011 RT, question on oil level sight window
Cold thick gloopy oil will stick to everything, every crevice especially with horizontal cylinders - if there is no oil pressure moving it on then it will lurk all around the motor including the cooler. Warm thinned oil is much more compliant with gravity. The LC method is the same. I would also sug...

Re: "18 RT wiring harness damage
Yup ebay the P/N and you are looking at 30GBP.
I am 80% sure a drop in replacement is a TE MCON 1.2 which are 1.60 each plus contacts, from RS but I can't be sure as I haven't ordered one before. At least the BMW part doesn't need crimping.

Re: "18 RT wiring harness damage
83300402337 is the bmw part number, i think these come with a flying lead that you can solder to which saves the crimping.

Thermostat will only control flow to the cooler, not from it.

Re: "18 RT wiring harness damage
Take a picture of the end of the plug/socket and I should be able to tell you what parts you need to repair and where to get at sensible prices. Most of BMWs connectors are made by TE Connectivity and can be bought from RS for a few quid each. Failing that you will be able to get a repair part from ...

Re: 2016 Backfire when up-shifting using shift assist
I have not seen a reliable source yet for the exact mode of operation, TMF on youtube is anything but technical. On older machines it was always the ignition to be cut because selectivley controlling a carb for a tenth of second was not feasible but since FI and ECU's made an appearance it became mu...
