Re: Test rides

Am I to assume that a dealers previous accident record with loan bikes might restrict the cover offered - even to the extent that it might exclude older riders?  I know that some insurers want to charge me £3,500 to insure my bike because they do really not want my business. It might be bu...

Re: Test rides

I agree with you. My problem is that I don't know whether to get angry with the BMW dealer or the insurance company that provides cover for the dealer's demo and loan bikes. The fact other dealers can offer rides to the more mature rider indicates that insurance is available to the dealer, they hav...

Re: Test rides

Anyone noticed how M/cycle dealers increasingly are imposing age limits on test rides, I've definitely heard of this the other way, i.e. Hayabusa must be over 25 but not upper limit. The two local dealerships I patronize nearly beg me to take one of their demo bikes each time I come in for a visit....

Every time I have had Cruise Control problems it has been down to the poor quality Left side Handlebar "Combination" switch. Replaced twice under warranty. On each occasion and after switch replacement the Cruise Function returned fine. Lots of these "Christmas Cracker" switches...

I've done that most times as well

Re: Should this be a warning?

Not 100% sure but I think you need to apply the brakes too. No you don't it is just distance related. Scared me silly first time I rode an RT, it was a test ride, dealer rode the bike from the workshop to the front of the shop and left the engine running. Later on I stopped for a coffee and got the...

Re: To Install Crash Bars or Not?

One downside to the luggage bars is if you want to ride without the panniers the bike is still just as wide so filtering is not as easy as it could be. Personally I just have head protectors on the front and armour fend on the panniers

Re: R1200RT LC upgrade speakers

Best option would be to go in helmet or in ear options. Lot less need to have it loud if the wind is not blowing away 90% of the sound - and it is a lot less anti social to not have the radio playing to everyone within half a mile.

Re: Staying dry in rain, 2012 RT seat

Basically when manufacturers say its 100 % waterproof don't believe a word of it. Most gear is good to a point but there are limits. That is true of most things, watches and phones in particular. I used to be a scuba diving instructor and it is interesting to note that virtually nothing in diving i...

Re: Heated seat working?

They are quite slow to warm up so you will need to leave it a while. I get three or four miles down the road before I can feel it. I would think that you will feel it even with current temperatures given sufficient time but if you can try it early in the morning when the bike is at its coldest it mi...

I'm assuming you are in the UK as the house looks British. For future reference it is worth adding location and model to your profile so it is easier to keep replies relevant Based on that; Sportstouring do them https://www.sportouring.co.uk/shop/comfort-ergonomics/ilium-works-usa...

Re: Time for a new suit

I'm a Halvarssons fan, really good quality for the money, my jacket is looking a bit tired now but still waterproof - approx 15 years old. I just wash it once or twice a year with Nikwax.

Also consider their sub brand Lindstrands
