Re: New 2020 or wait for the '21?

I changed to a 2020 1250RT from a 2018 K1600GTL.  The 2020 bike is lovely, lighter and more economical than the K (which is a super bike to ride, as well). I like the 2020 dash layout (same as the GTL) and prefer it to the TFT display. If I were in your shoes, I'd go for the 2020 RT (well, ...

Re: Sat Nav misbehaving

Gavj, Yup, normal performance from my Nav Vi, if left on the bike for a few weeks, without going out for a ride.  Once the Nav Vi battery is charged up, it is business as usual. I suppose the answer would be to ride the bike more often, but I don't like salty roads (that's what my Panthers ...

Re: Question on the 1250engine for 2020 owners

I get the occasional "pop" when changing gear (downshift with quickshifter) but nothing else.  Hardly noticeable (I think I only heard it, as I had changed from a K1600 GTL, which was much, much quieter).

Re: Rear Mudguard Extender

I just leave mind extended fully, all of the time.  Anything that keeps the muck off  (or reduces it) is a good thing, in my book.  It only goes back up, when the rear wheel needs to come out.

Stay safe,

Scunny12 +1

I'd have preferred better mirrors and seat.  Still love my 1250RT, though!

Re: What did you do today?

Had a 330 mile trundle up to Newark and back, whilst the weather is good.  A lot of 70 mph, cruise control, on the motorways/dual carriageways, but still getting 62 mpg (fill up to fill up). Stopped by the Trent at Fiskerton to relieve my posterior - I think an upgrade to a Sargent seat mig...

Re: Trickle charging

My dealer provides the relevant Optimate lead attached to the battery, with the bike.  They seem to prefer to sell Optimate chargers, rather than BMW own brand!

Re: 1250RT vs 1250RS Exclusive

Rode both before buying my 1250RT.  I did not like the RS TFT display (everyone else loves it, I'm told!).  The RS is (or seems) a bit nippier around the lanes and the general ride is good.  I did notice the lighter weight, but then I had a K1600GTL at the time and the eve...

Re: Hello from Bordeaux, France

I had a 2018 K1600GTL - superb machine, sounded great with the Akrapovic exhausts. You can bimble along in 5th gear at 30 mph and just open the throttle, to go. For a big heavy cruiser, it was a very fast and comfortable machine. However, it is a heavy beast to manoeuvre at low speeds. I thought the...

Re: The Nod

I'm with you - it has been part of my riding life for 50+ years.  I wave or nod to all powered two-wheelers (and outfits) regardless on make.  We are kindred spirits, after all.  Most other riders respond likewise - one or two might be going too fast to notice, though! Old...
