Re: Return to riding
I don't understand comments describing the RT as heavy. It's the lightest bike among its common peers: Honda ST1300 (731 wet), Kawasaki Concours C-14 (670 wet), FJR1300 (642 wet). I won't include any cruiser weight as we all know how overweight they are. I don't know about the Ducati's and other 'pe...

Re: Return to riding
I am 54, 5'6", with a 28" inseam. Like you, I've been riding over a span of decades but have been out of it for about 9 years. Long story short, I was severely tempted to buy the Honda CTX 700 DCT because I thought I needed something to ease my way back in and would then, in a couple of ye...

Re: Choosing my first off these bikes
While researching which Beemer would suit me I came upon a few forum reports here and there (one or two on a GS forum stick out in my memory). Again, given how many they've sold (GS and RT's) it's not enough to indicate a trend, but it got me looking into what it would take to repair.

Re: Choosing my first off these bikes
I had an alternator failure on a 2005RT but this is an extremely rare occurrence. I would not select a machine based on a potential alternator failure. There are a few forum reports in the various BMW forums out there of failures but not enough to conclusively prove it's a common problem. It's just...

Re: Choosing my first off these bikes
I opted to buy a '13 RT (Camhead) rather than a '14 -> (Wethead). There's lots of info out there but one thing that may influence you is the location of two components: the clutch and the alternator. For any RT made before 2014 the engine is primarily air cooled with an air/oil heat exchanger added ...

Re: Flip up helmet and intercom
For whatever it's worth, I just bought a NeoII and it's awesome. I chose to get the helmet now as my Multitec, that was just pulled out of the closet where it's been hiding for the last nine years, was literally degrading. I figured I could wait a little while to get the headset.

Re: Back 2 Biking forum review
I liked his initial videos comparing bikes but they've fallen off in content quality since. I have to agree that he seems to be acting pretty childish about this and one needs to have skin that's not too paper thin to participant in a free-form public forums like this. I've been doing it s...

Re: How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?
That doesn't necessarily mean they are getting worse, I just think all the others are getting better. It's more of a level-playing-field these days.

Re: Bowing out
I really hate that you feel you are treated poorly. I haven't poured through all the responses in your various posts on here but forums can be like that unfortunately - certain types feel empowered by the anonymity. I have watched every one of your YouTube videos (twice for 5-parter comparing bikes!...

Love the reflective tape on the rims. Where did they come from?
