Re: Just bought new BMW battery charger for CAN bus system.
But, if I disconnect (a hassle), then I have to maintain the battery's charge. Why not just use a BMW charger ? The charger's cost easily justifies the money it will save, longer term, IMHO.

Re: Just bought new BMW battery charger for CAN bus system.
richardbd: I need a battery maintainer for 2 reasons: 1) In Ohio, USA, it often gets under 0 degrees F in the December to March range. I am physically unable to ride in those temps, for safety reasons. 2) Since a BMW battery, here where I live, costs about 150 to 180 do...

Just bought new BMW battery charger for CAN bus system.
Paid 182 dollars US. Well worth it. I bought it from a dealer who 1) explained why it is not wise to scrimp on a charger for a 20000 dollar motorcycle, and 2) explained how many guys he's already dealt with who have fried their electronics by NOT following the instructions in the...

Re: Need advice on LOW SEAT option for r 1200RT
Well, I bought a low seat from BMW of San Francisco, sat on it for a few minutes, then sent it right back ! Way too uncomfortable ! The ability to get both feet flat on the ground was my original intention, but I would have to give up way too much comfort. So, I am sticking with the stock ...

Thanks. I am finding his site to be rather hard to navigate. Seems to be no real logic in the way it is laid out.
I'll try searching again.

Re: REVIEW: 2016 BMW R1200RT - three weeks in
Methos1979: I just bought a used (but mint condition) 2015 in Ebony. Has all the equipment yours has with the exception of the Gear Assist Pro shifter. This bike has just over 12K miles on it, so all I have had to do is replace the original rear Michelin with a new one. ...

BarBacks / HeliBars for 2014- 2016 WC model.
Anybody here have the BarBacks installed (by Illium),OR, the alternative HeliBars, that give about a 1.5 inch rise&back position ? Do they significantly improve comfort ? The HeliBar supposedly gives a slightly different wrist angle, as well as a 2 inch WIDER grip position. I...

Is there a dedicated Water Cooled R1200RT link here ?
I am interested in the 14-16 water cooled 1200 RT thread, or board, if it exists. I am having trouble navigating to find such a link, if there is one. I get frustrated reading about a particular topic, then find out it refers to, say, a 2009 bike. Can somebody help on that issue ...

Re: Need advice on LOW SEAT option for r 1200RT
Wethead: I agree with you (at least with my V Strom Suzuki) that a factory low seat is less comfortable than the standard seat. However, at my age (64) I am obsessed with SAFETY and my ability to maneuver at slow speeds and at stops. So, safety trumps comfort for me. In...

Re: Keyless ride
Why not just buy a 2nd key FOB ? Even if 100 or more bucks, what is the big deal if you're buying it for an over 22 000 dollar motorcycle ?

Re: Need advice on LOW SEAT option for r 1200RT
Methos1979...I have not picked up the bike yet (I ended up buying a used 2015 model, with 12K miles, for about 6000 US dollars cheaper than an equivalent new one !) I was NO aware of any seat adjustment when I road the bike, nor am I sure what suspension setting the bike was on. I was conc...

Re: Need advice on LOW SEAT option for r 1200RT
I am a 152 pound male, with a 29.5 inch inseam, and am 5 feet 7 inches tall....a "little guy". I am coming off of a 2012 650 Suzuki V Strom...a great bike, but WAY too high of a seat for me (after I lived with it for a few years). When I test drove a used 2015 R 1200RT ...
