Re: About the brain bucket!

After recently tripping up coming down the stairs at home and demolishing a bookcase with my head, causing deep lacerations, there is no way in hell I would ever ride without one.
As far as I’m aware, all European countries require a helmet to be worn and up to European specs.

Re: Odyssey battery voltage

Battery looks OK. However, after recent start of my RT, before it kicked over, lights went out, dash display went off and then started. Still new to RT, so not sure if this normal. So, just got the following on offer from Amazon as a ‘just in case’. Looks OK for £25. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/prod...

Re: SHORTER SCREEN. 2014 onwards

To be honest, and I know it’s a while since a ‘good’ summer, with my screen at lowest setting, I get a good cool blast, and I’m only 5’5”

Re: Changing battery - 2014 R1200RT

Weird how BMW place consumables in hard to reach places. I used to have R1100R, the battery was under the tank, making changing the battery an absolute nightmare. Luckily my 09 RT is easy, took 10 minutes.

Re: April 2018 - Northern Monkeys Meet

Just a thought for a couple of stops depending on a ‘run’ route. If near Hornsea, the cafe at the mere does excellent local produce breakfasts, also for trough of bowland/Dunlop bridge, the hark to bounty pub in Slaidburn does great food.

Re: The Workshop - BMW Specialist (York)

I personally don't know the guy. However, after buying my RT last year and had the rear wheel bearing replaced, my mechanic asked if the clutch had been replaced recently. As I had been through the paperwork I knew it had 6 months earlier at the workshop in York. I asked why and my mechanic found th...

Re: RT-LC vs GS-LC

I do not consider myself to be vertically challenged at 5’5”, everyone else has a height problem. Love my RT with the low seat option, no main problem getting feet down on most surfaces, however, if parked on extreme kerb angle, can be a bit hard getting the thing upright! However, i’ve Added front a...

Fix for one thing, but mechanic finds something else

Had the bike in to get the whining final drive issue sorted, rather corroded crown bearing, no play, just rust. However he also found that the drive shaft hadn't been fitted correctly after a new clutch was fitted 18 months ago. So glad he fixed it as not sure what the long term consequences would h...

Re: September 2017 - Northern Monkeys Meet

Will join you, hopefully soon. However a rather loud whine from final drive from my new to me 09 RT, leaves me with commuting only until sorted! Still within 3 month guarantee from sale, they have been made aware, so hopefully covered!

I will join you soon, (Birkenshaw) , however, my new to me RT has a rather worrying final drive whine, which I need to sort first!

Re: help needed re: mirrors

I tried various solutions, none of which were successful. Ended up calling Moto- bins who informed that I needed gs1150 mirrors at 36 each for my 09 RT. Ordered, fitted, happy. Just needed to enlarge the left hand hole a bit, all in all, a ten minute job.
