Front Shock Removal Problem

Hi all,  HELP !!, further to my post regarding Alternator Removal one of the preliminary tasks is to remove the Front Shock which looks to be a pretty simple job. However, the bottom securing bolt is apparently "Thread Locked" during factory assembly and as I have found out is ver...

Re: Nitrogen filled tires

A few years ago I was offered a Nitrogen fill when I replaced tyres on our Focus Sport. (Derek Campbell Tyres Teesside) I took them up on the offer as it was relatively cheap after the cost of the four new tyres. The problem I had was maintaining the pressure lost during normal running. ie an upcomi...

Re: Alternator Removal

Thanks for the info chaps, after looking at the video it does look fairly easy to slip the belt off. And the Alternator only has three mounting bolts, two at the nearside and one at the offside. Just in case anyone was wondering why I would want to remove the Alternator, mine is in a shocking state ...

Alternator Removal

Has anyone removed and re-fitted the Alternator from a Twincam RT. My Haynes Manual says that a BMW Special tool is required to re-fit the Drive Belt or that damage can occur. Also I can only make out three Alternator securing bolts. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: O Rings and Crush Rings

One of my local dealers looked a bit puzzled when I asked for new "O" Rings for the Final Drive Drain Plug and Speed Sensor ? aperture. "Don't have them in stock, never had to change them Sir"  !!. That said they did have the Crush Seal Rings for the Gearbox and Engine S...

Re: Oil Filters - OEM or MAHLE

Just returned from the Dealer where I have purchased an Engine Oil Filter and Sump Seal Ring for our Twincam RT. To be on the safe side I quoted the VIN number at the parts counter. Having just removed the Filter which was fitted by another BMW Dealer last year and comparing it to the one I bought t...

Re: Brake Fluid Change 2013 Twin Cam RT

Wow, that's great David, thanks a lot. Read that through three or four times now and all seems pretty conventional for except the removal of the pads to minimise system volume and the "extra" bleed nipple at the Front Master Cylinder. I have ordered the "Twin Cam" Haynes Manual a...

Brake Fluid Change 2013 Twin Cam RT

Advice needed please. Is a Brake Fluid Change within the scope of a competant home mechanic or is there weird procedures to be followed. Although my Haynes Manual is for the Hexhead model it specifically warns against attempting this task and that it is a dealer job.
Thanks.

Re: Fancy a Change ?.

A good all round mix of comments, well done chaps. Getting back to my original post, the main thing which caught my eye was the screen price. At £11,750 that's a cracking bargain.

Re: Fancy a Change ?.

Appreciate your view RTman10 but despite the number of functions the BMW Switch has to incorporate, although it has to be said my own SE Model does not have Engine Modes, Central Locking and Audio it's the quality of the material which stands out. The Switch body and the actual buttons look classy a...

Fancy a Change ?.

Just had a wander around my local Yamaha Dealer whilst the Missus was having her hair done (more expense !!). Brand new, registered but un-used 2015 Model Yamaha FJR 1300A in a lovely Gunmetal Grey. £11,750. Very impressed by the finish and the Handlebar Switches looked real classy compared to the s...

Norman Arrow

Anyone know what has happened to LD Lines Norman Arrow. We travelled on this super piece if kit in June 2010 from Portsmouth to Le Havre. About three hours crossing time if I remember rightly. Just in the process of planning next years trip and although we haven't used the is route for some time it ...
