Re: Quick shifter problem?

Hi David I did about 100 miles yesterday of A-B and M roads in and out of London. For example on the M25 I opened up the throttle on the on-ramp a few times from 2-3 and sometimes it goes without a hitch and sometimes the clunk. A friend said that the 2016 gearbox vs the 2017 this was fixed. So I am...

Re: Quick shifter problem?

Thanks. When I say "clunk" the bike completely unloads which is slightly ironic since the quick shifter is meant to prevent the pillion helmet from banging against the driver. As luck (or fate) would have it the side stand sensor has failed and I can only start the bike in neutral so it wi...

Quick shifter problem?

Third week of having my 2016 RT. Still getting used to the quick shifter or “shift assistant”. It doesn’t like upshift 2-3 with open throttle and goes clunk. 3,4,5,6 up and 6,5,4,3,2 down is very smooth. The bike is under warranty. Do others have problems? Friend said that the 2016 quick shifters we...

Re: USB in the top box

David I am still looking for a schematic for the box and haven’t taken it apart yet. From my guess the box flairs from the mounting bracket. The Powerlet looks best since as you say you can use longer screws. Also as it is flat it will allow the box to sit  flat when off the bike. One other...

Re: USB in the top box

Thanks David. I have a bunch of those but they don’t sit flush and are not long enough and the box is double skinned. The Optimate looks much better.

Re: USB in the top box

Here is an option that requires one 25mm dia. hole, https://www.r1200gs.info/threads/pdm60-accessory-power-to-hard-cases.25873/ This one only requires a 14mm dia. hole, https://www.optimate.co.uk/products/o30-tank-bag-cable-set Thanks David. Exactly what I am looking for. The cable or hole is not t...

Re: possible convert from ST1300

Yeah, that and through villages where there is a point to the speed limits. Also useful giving your hand a rest, I suffer from arthritis and RSI in my hands which gets bad if I dont stretch my hand regularly. I dont use it a massive amount but it makes life easier to have. When I hired a 1200LC las...

Re: USB in the top box

Thanks Nick. The desire for the socket in the top box is to charge my helmet which has an integrated comms. The helmet lives in the top box and saves me from having to bring it in the house, leave on a table and the young ones (or old ones) knock it. I’ve seen it done a few times but never looked at...

possible convert from ST1300

Just bought a 2016 RT with 8k miles for just over £10k. Comes with a 2 year BMW warranty and has every option bar the radio. Previous bike was a 2010 GS 1200 cam head also bought used. The RT is the Starship Enterprise compared to my old GS. The DOHC cam engine on my GS was a sweet engine but the LC...

USB in the top box

When I next take my bike apart I was considering running a USB in the new style top box. Has anyone done this? Looks pretty straightforward by drilling on the bottom left hand side. This would be handy for charging my helmet or spare batteries. Would be interested to see how others have mounted a ru...

Quite pleased with this that I got from Normski. Very well made and £28 posted including the modified RAM ball.
