Re: Rocker cover protection
After the first ride of '23 the rocker cover protectors worked. They didn't stop all of the road crud but what did get onto the heads was quite slight, non-damaging and was easily removed fully without brushing during a cleaning job with snow foam. Pleased with them - and as I think it would be a mi...

Re: 2021 Nav system alternate.
After my first ride since Christmas it's a complete thumbs up for the EMR screen above the TFT. Before leaving the driveway the Zumo 590 got a signal after about a minute and didn't lose it once during a ride out this morning into the hilly bit of Aberdeenshire. On the way back I left off energising...

Re: Swingarm lower suspension protection
First ride out since Christmas and the pivot protection has worked but I'm going to redo it to be a bit wider. It stopped the big crud well but I'm not happy that it'll fully stop the salt laden mist that hits the bottom of the bike. When I replace it I'll give the pivot a really good clean then lub...

Re: Swingarm lower suspension protection
On my Pan'13 I used the full depth extender which ended about 2" below the chin. It should have stopped the lot but it ended up causing the bottom corners of the radiator to clog with crud - that led to a new radiator - poor aerodynamics suck!! I reckon the pressure from down below the calipers...

Re: Swingarm lower suspension protection
Could do but it would be extremely close to the tyre and there's also a possibility it could rub against the moving swingarm.

Re: Swingarm lower suspension protection
Yes, I think that's the only place the crud could get in there from.

Swingarm lower suspension protection
Now I'm sober, (Happy New Year to everyone) this morning I had a look at the swingarm to spring knuckle. Even after only 5/6k miles it was filthy and was only going to become worse I reckon. This is a 'let's see what happens' test solution to hopefully prevent a build up of potentially damaging or c...

Re: OEM Top Case Luggage Rack
Best photo I've seen yet - that's a huge gap!!I think it's a Wunderlich for us.
Thanks David for finding that image - really helpful and decision made!

Re: OEM Top Case Luggage Rack
Yes, I guess it's a matter of a particular helmet versus the lower protrusions of the rack fixings. I'm leaning towards the Wunderlich but I like the looks of the black Isotta very much. Whichever I go with I won't need a bag as I've still got my old ST1300 stuff to use. My only misgiving about the ...

OEM Top Case Luggage Rack
Hi As we're hoping to do some more touring with the new 1250 I'm considering fitting a Wunderlich luggage rack on the standard issue top case to supplement the standard luggage volume. My query is whether the fitting kit inside the lid might interfere with it being used for helmet storage while we'r...

Re: Grip Puppie Install
I put a set on the RT yesterday. A bit of detergent first then having fed them over the bar ends, I found that just hitting them with the flat of the hand pumped air in and expanded them enough to let them slip on with a gentle twist. Now I just need the chance to ride the damn thing! My problem is ...

Re: Battery grounding during storage
I've tried two optimates. The first fried the battery on my ST1300 and was discarded just in case it was faulty. I use the second once a week to charge my bikes when we have very low temperatures. So the consensus recommends disregarding the idea of it being beneficial to insulate against ground con...

Battery grounding during storage
I'm not sure whether I read it on this forum but I don't think so. There's a theory that much of the battery die away issues our motorcycles suffer during winter storage are due to the battery slowly depleting through the stand (side or centre) going to ground for extended periods - I'm leaving asid...

Re: Rocker cover protection
I see those could be effective. I'd be a wee bit feared of grit etc getting into something so close to the finish - I know I'm a coward and I'm proud!! I'd have to be taking them off every 5 minutes to check!!
