Re: New MTC Exhaust for the Earlier R1200RT's

Thanks. It was actually a bit under my budget in the end at £155 with the delivery although they did send me one for a later model by mistake at first. In fairness to MTC though they sorted it all out at their expense and sent me one of their hoodies and a T-shirt as an appolgy. Nice thing about the...

New MTC Exhaust for the Earlier R1200RT's

Now before I go any further, I know this won't be of interest to some but others who dislike the look and sound of the standard exhaust like myself, may find it helpful. Personally I always felt the the Exhaust Can on the RT looked like BMW had taken their design ques from a steel dustbin and used s...

Re: Replacement Rear Disk & Pads.

Maybe that's  why its only £44.  Not much metal used. The RT is hard on the  rear brake so it will be interesting to see if it lasts any length of time.  Price is definitely right though. Very true, as I say I really can't say with any certainty about longevity a...

Re: Replacement Rear Disk & Pads.

Just a small point.  Did you use new securing bolts.  BMW state they are one time use only. No I re-used the bolts that where there as they had recently been changed by BMW when the recall on the rear hub was done. They are supposed to have a small amount of thread lock on and thi...

Replacement Rear Disk & Pads.

If anyone is interested, I've recently replaced the rear disk and pads on my 2007 1200RT. The Disk is made by a company called Viper and was supplied by JJC Race & Rally. The Disk was only £44.65 including the delivery and I matched this with a set of sintered Goldfren Pads supplied by M&P w...

Re: Fitted a New Aftermarket Screen

On the subject of visors, I was told that if you use anything other than a clear one, you must carry a clear replacement visor. You may get caught out in conditions of poor visibility during the day or unexpectedly at night. Thats very true, I have a "Tinted" Visor on my current lid as i ...

Re: Fitted a New Aftermarket Screen

Lets get one thing straight, I don't give a flying toss what you choose to ride with. I don't think I was being negative saying that I look over the screen rather than through it. Is it also being negative saying you better hope you don't get stopped by plod, I was making the point that if somethin...

Re: Fitted a New Aftermarket Screen

You ride with a tinted visor at night - better hope Mr plod doesn't stop you. Have you got anything to say that isnt negative ? What I choose to ride with in terms of my lid & visor combo is entirely my choice, same as it would be for yourself. So long as vision is not obstructed by what ever y...

Re: Fitted a New Aftermarket Screen

What you will get at night it an upside down view of you dash reflecting in it. Have to admit I was slightly concerned by your comment so went out to the garage and switched the bikes ignition on and then turned the garage lights off to test it out for myself. Yes there is indeed some reflection in...

Re: Fitted a New Aftermarket Screen

It was £91 including the delivery from a Company called Dreamscreen. As for the tint causing issues at night, I really can't see that being a problem. It's a light tint and pretty much every modern car you drive will have some form of tint in the windscreen nowadays and I've never heard of it being ...

Fitted a New Aftermarket Screen

Due to there being a fair few scratches and quite a bit of discolouration on the factory fit screen, which meant it was difficult to see through when raised and travelling at motorway speeds I decided to go for a slightly taller and wider aftermarket screen. So after having got over the original sho...

Re: fuel strip faulty

I had the same issue with the 2007 RT that I recently bought. The Fuel strip had actually been replaced at BMW a few years ago at the previous owners cost. When I got the bike the Fuel strip was shot again. So I rang the Dealers in Brighton and Guildford as they where my closest main dealers but eve...

Re: Hello To All

Welcome.  You seem to be doing OK. Cheers  I'm getting there with it. In fairness I bought it cheap knowing about the work it needed, it's just been a bit more of a struggle to find good quality aftermarket parts for the bike in comparrison to all the others I've owned whic...
