There won't be!

That's what I expected from the previous posts. My only real reason for pursuing this is the possibility of it affecting the resale value of the bike.

Anyone any idea of the labour time (and hence the cost) to replace the exhaust system?

Re: Exhaust Pipe Flap Valve Thingy

Mine's in on Monday for the fix. I'll be interested to see if there's any appreciable change in performance.

Re: First flat!

I had the same issue with a wood screw through the centre of the tread on a rear wheel Metzler Roadtech 01 that had been on the bike for 2K miles. I took it to my local tyre centre to be told that, 'they can't be plugged but we'll sell you a new one sir'. I then took it to a guy I've know for years ...

Re: Scissor jack to lift front wheel

That's the system I use to remove the front wheel and never had a problem. I think you'd have to be very unfortunate to cause damage to the engine case. You co uld always place a block of wood between the jack and the bike to spread the load? If I'm leaving the wheel out for a whil...

They do say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Perhaps some people should have gone to Specsavers? 🤓

Re: Touratech Crash Bars photos

Well I'm not a mechanic but I don't see how you could remove the rocker covers without removing the bars first. I had bars fitted to my last GS and was charged for removing them to carry out valve clearance checks.

Re: Touratech Crash Bars photos

I do have to ask why? I have the BMW head protectors fitted and they've saved me twice now in slow speed drops. The plastic inserts on the protector are scuffed but no damage elsewhere. To my eye they look a lot better than those scaffolding bars and don't affect servicing. Just askin'.  ;)

Re: Exhaust Pipe Flap Valve Thingy

BMW have agreed to pay for the parts if I pay for the labour which I'm happy with. It's booked in for 10th July. Result I think.

The RR lot were on our ferry. Some very expensive pieces of metal there!
Did you stay at Jim's place in Las Arenas by chance?

Re: Touring

Just returned from 10 days in Northern Spain with a pal on an R1200 R - Bilbao - Picos - Santiago de Compostella - Teixido - Viveiro - Picos - Santander. Fabulous roads with no traffic and warm, friendly people. We only saw 2 fellow Brits on the trip after we left the Picos. Get out of the Picos and...

Re: Exhaust Pipe Flap Valve Thingy

If the valve seizes up, as in my case, will it generate a fault code which would show up on diagnostics?
I had the bike serviced in February and this was not reported.

Re: Princess Leia

I haven't driven in Corfu for a few years but from memory the roads can be a bit dodgy outside of town. Engine protectors would be a must I would think. I got to know a guy in Kephalonia who rides a GS. He refuses to ride it on the island but leaves it on the mainland where he lives during the winte...
