Re: new lock for topbox

I kept my old topbox when I changed from a 2019 to a 2021.  Following the Youtube vids it is actually quite easy to take out the lock - I used a straightened paper clip to depress the final lock "plate" - the one that holds the lock in the barrel. I made sure that I removed the lo...

Re: 49L Top Box Install 2021 RT

It's easy to install - feeding the cable through the plastic to the connector is made easier if you remove the grey plastic piece at the front (i.e. bike side) of the luggage rack - just 2 screws.

Re: Time for a new suit

I have a Rev'it! Trench jacket for sale, size L in Black, which would suit someone looking for "pre-owned" but "as new"  ^-^ I'm 5'9" with a 34 waist as well and it fits me fine. The Trench is a 2 layer Goretex jacket cut slightly longer than most bike jackets. See ...

Re: Handling Issues.

If he's squared off the tyres in 3 months he's doing pretty well  :)) I don't feel that my 2021 RT has any handling issues - for such a beast I feel it handles amazingly well.  Have you been back to Chester Motorrad to get them to check it out?  Something doesn't sound rig...

Re: Numb Bum

I have the standard stock seat and can reach the ground on the balls of my feet but I cannot flat-foot on both sides.  Given the extra width of a Sargent seat would you recommend going for the "Low" version?

Re: Under seat storage

I made that mistake when I bought my 2019 RT.  I didn't particularly want the radio but thought that the extra cubby on the RHS would be useful.  Little did I realise that whatever space there might have been under the seat was filled by the radio unit - I had, in my naivety, throu...

Re: TFT and General stuff on the 21 R1250RT

Having sold my Nav 6 in the erroneous belief that I would no longer need it and having bought a dedicated phone because my existing phone did not fit in the charging cubby I would be happier if BMW thanked and compensated me for my beta testing of their product  :shirty:

Re: TFT and General stuff on the 21 R1250RT

If you watch David's video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MP9wDsvNjB8 you will see that the nav does not work flawlessly with an Android phone.  It has the same problem as iOS - voice directions no longer work after switching off the bike.

"since I have no emissions testing to worry about"  - are you sure about that?  Control Technique will be coming to motos eventually, even if it's been delayed

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

On my 2019RT the valve did not actually seize, it simply became slightly "stiff" so that the servo was unable to rotate it a full 90 deg during the "ignition on" start up sequence. This immediately throws up the yellow engine warning light on the dash, which won't go away. But on...

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

Thanks, but it's not my bike - it's the guy in the video (Highland Rider).  But yes, whatever genius decided to incorporate the flap valve in the entire header/catalyst assembly deserves a special mention

Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

I feel his pain.  On my previous RT it stuck at around 5500 miles.

Why BMW continue to spoil a great bike by fitting this useless POS is beyond me  >:D

Re: Engine Break-In

Where do you get this odd idea that cars etc do not require running in? This is from the manual for my Subaru:- "The performance and long life of your vehicle are dependent on how you handle and care for your vehicle while it is new. Follow these instructions during the first 1,600 km (1,000 mi...
