Re: Hearing Protection

Use custom plugs with the speakers in for long runs. Foam plugs for commuting - i roll them up real thin and poke them in my lugoles. They expand and fill my ears thus making the RT sound lovely :-)

Re: Oil Filters - OEM or MAHLE

The quickvalve does project downwards by about 20mm but doesn't affect clearance at all. The Stahlbus does look better and would also suit the gearbox oil drain bolt - stop that awkward drain all over the centrestand!

Re: Oil Filters - OEM or MAHLE

Quickvalve is a brilliant bit of kit. Recommended

Re: NGK MAR8B-JDS Spark Plugs (Twin Cam)

I had a lengthy conversation about this with the chaps at NGK in Hertfordshire. I wanted to use an iridium equivalent but 'apparently' there isn't one. The only issue 'apparently' is the short length of unthreaded section closest to the firing end which is there to prevent the possibility of a fully...

Re: Oil Filters - OEM or MAHLE

Have used the Hi-flo 164 for many oil changes. I buy them in bulk and do and oil/filter change twice a year.  I also have a quick valve fitted which means I can do a complete oil/filter change in around 15 minutes

Re: Switchgear campaign

I popped into the garage this afternoon and reflated the tires to the correct pressures. I ran the bike up the street expecting the warning lamp to go out but it didn't so I connected the GS911. Discovered a bunch of fault codes which were presumably set during the switch exchange. Little bit surpri...

Switchgear campaign

I took my 2013 Camhead into Cannons at Braintree this morning for switchgear testing and replacement. I had reported several instances of the left hand cluster having issues especially in the recent warmer weather. In particular the screen switch acted up and the cruise control occasionally failed t...

Re: Query

For info I found reference on one of the US forums that suggests that 'about two inches' of free rotation at the rear wheel rim with the bike in first gear on the centre stand is considered normal. There should be less than .5mm lateral play - hands at 3/9 o clock and/or 6/12 o clock. Fairly simple ...

Re: Insurance

As with many things nowadays it seems that customer loyalty is rarely rewarded. I now shop around for deals and then approach my existing company to see if they will match it. Sometimes they will but I'm finding more often that they won't. I therefore take my business elsewhere. I was with Halifax b...

Info needed

Hi all, I want to fit some speed bleeders to my calipers. I'm looking at the US Speedbleeder or the Stahlbus equivalent. Trouble is I cannot find the definitive thread size and length required for both front and rear calipers. The  websites for both products give different sizes or lengths....

Re: 2015 FINAL DRIVE

I can understand those that just want to ride em - thats great. Being a bit sad, I love tinkering so whenever I do a engine oil/filter change I do the gearbox and FD too. I also check my valve clearances way too often but because its so easy, I do it anyway :-)

Query

2013 camhead with 13k miles. On engaging/disengaging the clutch at walking speed, pulling away slowly in traffic etc, I get a very slight clunk. Feels like it could be slack in the driveline but it may be clutch related. Not really a problem more of an irritation especially if caught in traffic or q...
