Re: passing horses
Come across horses a fair bit and having a friend who has had them for over 40 years and competes general consensus is each one is different but relies a lot on the rider. If the rider gets nervous then the horse does the same, especially if they don't come across bikes often. As most of the roads a...

Re: Pretty embarrassing
Didn't help parking it on a camber and hopefully she got it back to the station without any more fun and games. Being a little vertically challenged myself the low chassis and seat helps me to avoid most of those moments.

Re: HI Folks
Hi, glad to know there are others getting back to bikes when they are closer to 60 than 40. I got my licence in '73 on a BSA C15 which I rode for 3 years all over the country. Short period with a company Honda CB250 in '77 after which I stopped riding. Took it up again in 2013 on a CBF1000 which I c...

Re: Fuel Tank capacity and range...
Mine shows 320 range and have taken it 280 and put 22litres. The only time I was caught out was when I ran out of fuel with the range indicator showing 120 miles. The sender was broken, fortunately had recovery and warranty to get it replaced. What confused me was there was fuel in the tan...

Re: 1200 RT Pulls when brakes applied in a turn
Glad you seemed to have sorted out the problem, glad to hear it wasn't a mechanical issue (bike wise). Agree with earlier comments about getting all the braking done before you get to the corner unless you have the full abs and traction control that allows it. Bikes as with cars like to be settled b...

Re: new 2017 R1200RT Battery charging
I have a Oxford Max 3800 which I connect up to the battery with the connector cable. Had no problem with it so far, checks the battery strength as well as providing a trickle charge if needed. As the bike gets out quite frequently I only plug-in if it hasn't been out for more than a week, especially...

Re: 2017 BMW R1200RT US Pricing???
Not sure how it works with the US market, having a bit of inside info it appears that there are a number of bikes that a dealer will order across the range with a particular spec. These are then allocated to the dealer who can either take it or leave in free circulation at the BMW distribution centr...

Re: Low MPG
LAF, think that's not bad if most of your work is done going through the gears into third and back. The only times I have to be in third or fourth is the speed control areas at 30, 40 or 50 which for me are not that frequent, thankfully now the M3 is back to normal. For those not in the area it is a...

I do tend to agree that sometimes the myriad of microprocessors that fiddle with everything does contribute to reliability problems. Particularly when they are intermittent, only that plugging a diagnostic computer and reading error codes does not always get to the problem. Worse case is when there ...

Re: BMW StreetGuard textile suit....problems.....?
I would concur that the Rukka is much better built and mine has gone through some severe weather and worked well. Someone suggested the BMW gear was now made by the Alpinestars factories noticed their logo on a jacket, whereas previously it was Rukka designs, not sure how accurate that is. I have a ...

The front light cluster is designed to have bulbs changed by a three way articulated chimp with extra long fingers, or as in my case take all the panels of do it in a couple of minutes. Begs the question how much do you need to take off to change a light bulb. Similarly with the air filter.

Re: Liber-t (SANEF) Télépéage Scheme
I used one for a trip through France into Italy. I had it in the map pocket of the tank bag and it seemed to work well. Except on one section when it decided that I suddenly became a car, I was recommended to use the oversize lane for trucks and vans so not required to take it our....

Hi, don't have a back rest and can't say I had a problem without it. However if I do have a sore back and need to keep it straight I use a back protector that I use for skiing. Helps keep the back straight and keeps my stomach in making me look slimmer (every little bit helps when you loose the six ...

Hi Jackronner, going back to your original question and the difference in US vs Imperial. Are the stats you are reading the US figures in your handbook / marketing material or the numbers we are using for the UK/European market such as 100km/ltr and mpg. However if it is 38mpg and US gallons, it sti...
