Re: Dirty bike…

I've fitted the 'Authority bike' weather protection panels to mine. Not cheap, but they work well and keep rider and passengers lower limbs clean! They seem to divert the dirty water down and behind the bike. Search for images of Police RTs and compare the lower fairing and pillion footrest hanger a...

Re: New seat for 2021 RT

I've had Touratech Kahedo seats on my previous hexhead and twincam RTs. They were very good and a vast improvement over the stock seats.

Currently, I'm happy with the factory 'high' seat on my LC, but if I was changing, I'd buy Touratechs again without hesitation.

Goodbye Pilot Road 4's, hello Roadtec 01 SE's!

My October 2020 RT was supplied from factory with Michelin Pilot Road 4's. I've got 8500 miles from them. Mixed riding, but I try to avoid long motorway stretches (boring!). They have been 'OK'. Not my favourite tyre, but not terrible. Handling was going off towards the end of their life and the fro...

I've just finished watching it! Very interesting. Thanks for posting.

Good to see such thorough bike preparation. Much better than some of the 'restoration' videos.

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

Well, sadly, I can add my name to the 'early flap failure' club! :) My October 2020 bike threw up a warning light on Monday. Fault code reading by my dealer, Vertu Sunderland (formerly Cooper BMW) confirmed flap failure. Irritating, but it's covered by warranty, so I'm glad that it won't cost me an...

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

May I ask, what was the reason for removing the Akra and refitting the original silencer. Trivial reason really - the Akra was the one I had on my previous 1200LC, with a single tailpipe outlet. It fitted the 1250 perfectly well (I think that the exhaust systems are identical 1200 vs. 1250), but th...

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

RTs4me when you lubed the spindle did you check for full free movement of the butterfly valve by removing the cables ? Just curious. Hi Levisp, yes, I did. I cycled the ignition on and off, while the silencer was removed and observed the flap moving freely. Seems like my attempt at preventative mai...

Re: Under seat storage

If your bike doesn't have the audio option fitted, there is some useful space behind the dashboard speaker grilles. I have an Airman compressor in one side and a basic toolkit and a few spare bulbs etc in the other. Everything is in heavy-duty ziploc bags. The torx driver under the seat can be used ...

Re: New 2021 R1250RT, What I know

''The sight glass isn’t an accurate means to know how much oil is in your engine.'' Er, yes it is. It's an absolute indicator of the quantity of oil that is actually present in the crankcase. How else can oil level be known more accurately? Simply measuring the volumes added during oil changes can c...

Re: Nav 6, R1200RT 2018, My Motorcycle app not showing.

My previous bike was a 2018 R1200RT, which was supplied from new with the Nav6. I don't remember it ever having the 'My Motorcycle' app. I've recently changed bikes to a 2020 R1250RT and the 'My Motorcycle' info appeared on the Nav6 (same Nav unit transferred from old to new bike, with no updates to...

Re: Aftermarket LED headlights now a UK MOT fail!

I know of several people who have stripped off the ABS from K75/K100 and R1100RT bikes, which I've never thought was a sensible idea. To my way of thinking, it's a Luddite approach - ''it isn't working and I'm such a good rider that I don't need ABS, so I'm going to remove it all''. Not a good idea....
