Re: New ride
I live in the saltiest place on earth-- eastern Canada. 10 year old cars literally rust off their wheels. Salt in the air, salt on the roads. All my BMW bikes have had silver running gear, including my 2016 RT. Ive never had a problem with corrosion. And I run well into December and well below freez...

Re: Hi from Canada. Net New 17 R1200RT
Welcome from an east coast Canadian. As mentioned, take the time to read the manual. Youll love the bike, as will she if she rides with you.
And don't be afraid of spending the extra dough on BMW accessories. They are worth the extra ( this from a tightwad).

Re: Darla Lights
I mounted mine on the engine-- 2016RT. They work great, and the installation was a snap. I would recommend getting the slip-on accessory amber lenses. The brackets that are supplied with the kit are actual BMW OEM parts-- the same that are used for the BMW accessory driving lamps. Many will challeng...

BMW does white beautifully. And white bikes without stripes are rare.

Re: brake light stuck on. r1200rt 08 plate
Is red brake light only flashing and when you move bike goes off or not. I repaired sticky brushes also and had no problem. If red brake light persists, try with bike on center stand and with switch ignition on moving rear wheel forward and pull lever of front brake and you will...

Re: Downloadable / Printable REPAIR Manual for a Wet Head ?
Not sure where you are located, but you can buy the CD and simply use a local business center to print it out. If you haven't seen these new E-Manuals, unfortunately the info is accessed to topics via links on an interactive app. On a positive note, You should also know that once it is loaded you do...

Re: New RT Clutch Lever/Clutch Adjustments
Actually i was referring to the LT forum mentioned above here. What i have noticed in the past several months is that it appears to be dying a slow death. Only a handful of new members and new threads.Sullivj wrote: Out of interest, what is the 'other' forum?

Re: New RT Clutch Lever/Clutch Adjustments
For pity,s sake, do you have to lecture the guy. This is a great Forum so let's not sink to the levels of the other one. Funny you should mention the other forum. Some of the rudist people i have come across on forums were (are) there. Also the K16 forum has a few doozies as well (even one of the &...

Re: Riding position advice
Although i am only 6'0", i had the same pain begin to develop on our long rides a few years back. At the time we began riding late into the year, well below freezing. My girlfriend noticed on an early morning ride that my shoulders seemed more rigid . Turns out i was tensing back to get out of ...

And by the way, to turn the radio off you have to hold the power button (on the side fairing) . If you just press it once it mutes it, but doesn't turn it off.

Thanks for the kind words!

Re: Fitted Aeroflow tall screen
I was the one who did the video, and Terry, from Werks, was kind enough to contact me privately, and politely point out the "apples to oranges" comparison issue when it comes to heights. He is very correct on that specific issue. Taller shields do a better job of turbulence reduction becau...

Re: Black engine. paint/corrosion problems?
I live in Canada, the land of salt, snow and rain. I would think that if black paint was to address corrosion we would have had it years ago. Contrary to what some folks claim on this forum, ours drive-trains are and will be silver for the foreseeable future.

Re: Repair manual
Having been a staffer at a repair center for two different bike brands, this is one area where buying the OEM version pays off. Additionally, when you register your electronic version (after buying from the dealer -- 140$ here in canada) , you will get updates from the manufacturer. I cannot tell y...

Re: Goretex gloves
I ride in very cold weather (-10 C) for extended periods. I tried several brands but the only gloves that kept me truly warm (I can place my hands on my girlfriends back after a ride) are my BMW winter gloves.
