Re: International bike swaps.

Thanks Johan. I had a great family holiday in SA twenty years ago when my brother in law was working in Mafeking. Truly "Gods own country". There are established sites that do house swaps. What I've found is that finding mutually convenient times to exchange was the issue. Feb is great for...

Re: International bike swaps.

My wife and I are lucky with very good friends in Oz. Over the years we've put each other up, lent cars, sorted out each other's traveling kids, even provided emergency accommodation to complete strangers (to us, not our Australian friends) in the middle of the night. It's fun. It's sociable. And it...

International bike swaps.

I've been thinking about this for a while. It's relevant to this site because we have RT owners from the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand and a few more places besides. How about lending bikes? Someone comes to holiday in your home country and they borrow your bike while they are here. They get th...

Re: GS-911USB WANTED

What are you using it for Bushytas? Do you look after more than one Beemer? I see there's a BMW bike dealer in Tas. Are they not go to people?

Re: Hearing Protection

The wind noise on a bike is loud enough to damage your hearing. Add in the effects of age and loss of higher frequencies and problems are inevitable in later life. I've used fitted plugs for years but still like the disposable plugs too. They are just so convenient. I keep some in my jackets and som...

Re: R1200 Accessories

I've added some protective/cosmetic stuff. I scratch tanks on all my bikes so I got knee pads. I got film for the top of the panniers because I seem to scuff the paint there when putting my boot over however hard I try not to. I got the fender extender (clamps on, five minute job to fix). I don't kn...

Re: I've been knocked off!!

Happy to hear it. Donington Park Classic Bike Festival 7 -9 Aug. A short ride from Loughborough and a reminder why we all like motorbikes. I'm always amazed to see a rider on a rigid bike with girder forks get their knee down.

Re: Dealer cost on top case?

In the UK the BMW top box, colour matched, is about £1000. Dealers here seem to give 10 to 15% discounts if you have bought the bike from them. If you look at the posts on this site, for some, only genuine BMW accessories will do. BMWs own bits are nice but here in the UK you sure do pay a premium. ...

Navigator V from Peterborough.

I called in at Balderstons yesterday. Their "Summer Sale" is on. Bought a Navigator V with cradle for less than £505.
They are not my local dealer but very pleased with the purchase. Nice place to spend an hour or so as well.
By the way what size micro SD card is worth putting in it?

Re: BMW Discount on Parts & Accessories

I called in at Balderstons in Peterborough yesterday and saw they were doing a Navigator V with cradle for £505 in their Summer Sale. Bought one. Nice shop. Friendly people. Their parts man (very knowledgeable and enthusiastic) also showed me the very new Sena 10c, their Bluetooth intercom with HD c...
