Re: Givi Top Box

I love these threads. Getting off topic is all the fun. The BMW topbox for the new lc, color matched, looks great. I'd like one on my bike. I don't have a problem with the accessory. I have a problem with the eye-watering price that BMW are asking for it. And I still have a problem with my new bike ...

Re: Givi Top Box

I hope these help. Fitting was reasonably straightforward but Givi instructions are lamentable. The brushed aluminium looks OK, doesn't it? Much better than black plastic. If I understood my dealer correctly a topbox for my new lc, without color matching, was going to cost over £600. Even though I'd...

Pannier bags

I've been looking around for some liners for the panniers for the lc. I didn't really want to spend upwards of £100 even if you do get robust kit. I'll only be using them to transport stuff from house to bike to house/hotel so rugged cordura seems a bit like overkill. These come from www.made4bikers...

Givi top box

I got the idea from Rong on gser.com.
Givi V47NN Tech box with fitting kit.
Considerably cheaper than BMW offerings.
Even cheaper as I got the kit from Italy.
Added a bit of carbon fibre to the bike to match.
A couple of BMW badges to tart it up. Presto.

Re: New RT lc owner

Hi Spencer. I see you are near Bourges. I'm near Stansted Airport if you are ever travelling this way. I saw a picture of this Givi topbox on gser.com (thank you Rong of Norfolk). It's a V47 NN Tech. I got the R1200RT lc fitting kit. All from Italy (significantly cheaper than the UK) and delivered, ...

Crash protection

I've been thinking about sensible protection for the cylinders on my new RT lc. A car drove into me and though the damage to the cylinder head is only cosmetic (it looks like the bike had fallen onto its side) the bill for replacing all the bits, including labour, will be £360. Fortunately I'm not p...

Re: New RT lc owner

Thank you stelyn. I wasn't fussed about the color. And aren't they are all optional extras anyway? Difficult to see how you can charge extra for every color available. Perhaps BMW do a basic model at list price unpainted. Here are two photos. The first when I got it home. Pristine Callisto Grey. The...

New RT lc owner

Hi. Well I took the plunge and bought a new RT less than two weeks ago. It's been eventful. The bike is brilliant. I tried a Trophy twice and rode it and the Beemer back to back but there was little comparison. The BMW was lighter, quicker, more comfortable and with better controls. More "toget...
