I had a Road King until 2015 when I bought my RT. No regrets about the change. I have a 24 inch Werks screen. It is plenty big enough for me at 6.1.

Nav V or Nav V1 for a 2015 1200RT

I intend to replace my Zumo 660 with a BMW Nav satnav. Can forum members tell me if the Nav V1 is worth the additional cost over the Nav V?

Insurance

Need to renew my insurance shortly.  Most premiums are in a similar range for the same type of cover. Whilst there are many reviews on line about customer service, they seem to relate mainly to the ease of purchasing a policy.  This is clearly important, but I wonder if forum membe...

Re: Harley Sold, Gone, Now What??

I posted here last Fall considering a change from my HD Ultra Limited to a R1200RT. Since then, I was diagnosed with hearing loss with associated Tinnitus(posted on that too) which further led me to consider a  RT or Goldwing due to excellent(so I've read/heard) wind protection. Well, the ...

Re: Grip puppies - fatigue

Yes, I agree. The seam is the downside to Grip Buddies. I tried mine in many positions, but could not position them to avoid the seam. In the end I just got used to the slight ridge the seams cause.

Re: Riders seat comfort & footpegs - 2014 RT LC?

No, the heating elements were re-installed and work perfectly.  The extra padding was ordinary foam. No memory  foam or gel pads as far as I remember.  If you are interested I am sure CM seats will do whatever you want.  They offer a number of coverings and design...

Re: Grip puppies - fatigue

I found the small diameter of the standard grips caused discomfort and felt unnatural.  Bought a pair of Grip Buddies from NN.  Easy to fit and comfortable in use.

Re: Riders seat comfort & footpegs - 2014 RT LC?

I too found the seat very uncomfortable. It was hard and too low at the front causing me to slip towards the tank.  After much research I found a company 'Custom Motorcycle Seats' near Coventry and took my seats to them. They remodelled the rider's seat to my requirements and recovered it a...

Re: Map update for Older Garmin devices

Can anyone explain why Garmin updates take so long to install?

The latest update (for my 660) shows an installation time of 2 hrs 44 mins.

Bike cleaning products

I currently use a quality car shampoo and warm water. However this doesn't easily remove road dirt and insects from all the hard to reach places like cylinder fins etc.  I have read concerns about the possible effect some proprietary cleaners have on alloy surfaces and paintwork and wondere...

Bike camera

Having recently been involved in  a situation where photographic evidence of a car driver's behaviour would have been useful, I have started to wonder about the idea of having a "dash cam" on my RT.  Does anyone have any  experience or advice/recommendations&...

As it says on the tin under 'General Discussion' in the 'General Category' section where this topic was posted, 'Free to talk about anything and everything'. Rock on Duggie 👍. Just like in the real world, would be bloody monotonous if when meeting fellow bikers, the only subject up for discussion w...

My thanks to all those who responded. Your comments/advice has been helpful.
As I am off on a European tour in July, I intend to replace the tyres shortly . From suggestions on this forum I think I will choose PR 4 GT s.

Yes I agree, but it is the same on both sides of the tyre and consistent all the way round the tyre
