Quite.  I have no details but was recently told about someone who had experienced a cracked engine casing where a set of Wunderlich bars were attached.

How is that since they don't attach to the engine casing?

Or of cylinder guards before you buy.

Re: Highway pegs for R1200RT-LC with Touratech engine guard

Get them to work and I'll be the first customer. I was very sad to return my pegs when they couldn't be mounted with TT bars. To their credit, the company provided return postage and full refund making me very much want to buy from them again. I just looked and the bar diameter of the Touratech's i...

Re: Crash bars - to be or not to be that is the question

Unless someone has done some type of stress analysis on bikes with/without bars, conjecture about whether any damage to the frame that may or may with them is worse than any damage that might be caused by the torquing effect of hitting and dragging a cylinder head, is just that.  If someone...

Re: Highway pegs for R1200RT-LC with Touratech engine guard

The Mic-o-pegs are a wonderful product but cannot be installed with crash bars.  I still seek a highway peg solution.  Have tried Ilium bars in multiple locations without finding a good location thus far... Actually, I've been talking with Jim and Jay Mick the last couple of days,...

Re: Dropped bike...%#$@%

If it was mine. OEM engine guards will totally cover the scratches. Looks like you have damaged the pinged top on the pannier nd that will be difficult to get reprinted.  I would just bite the bullet nd get. New one. The OEM Pannier protectors will fix the bottom marks and cost a lot less ...

Re: Dropped bike...%#$@%

See photos Luckily the engine bars kept the head from getting dinged like that, but my pannier was in worse shape.  Both the top and bottom parts were gouged badly by the exceedingly gravely surface. I can't stand making payments on something that is marred up, so I just replaced the 2 pan...

Re: New seat - options

I believe with the RDL, that the added seat side bolsters reduce your ability to reach the ground by 1.5-2.0 .....this is not an increase in seat height or change in rider position. But maybe there is some minimum height on an RDL......and this RDL height is not allowing a low position Day-Long Sad...

Re: New seat - options

Are the BMW factory seat bases (pans/frames) the same on all the R1200RTW factory options? http://motorcycle.com.vsassets.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/2014_BMW_R1200RT_Seat_Height.jpg Re: New seat - options It's my understanding that the pans are the same, and it's just the foam height and c...

I was told they'd be adding between 1-1/2 and 2" to the OEM height to accommodate their inner spring design.

Re: New seat - options

I really want an RDL, but the lady says they can't help me without an significant increase in seat height, which I can't afford.

The combination of my height and bar position puts my hands right in the field of view. Honestly don't remember what the mirror view was like before they were installed.

Re: Handle Bar Risers

The Ilium Works bar backs are a little odd, but they work fine.  If you rotate them back much, you have to alter your switch set angle.

Re: IMPROVED HORN

I had a Sound Bomb installed between my forks and it is almost painfully LOUD.  I dread using it almost.  The way they installed it, I can feel it touch a little when going full lock to the right.  You virtually never do that, so it's not an issue.  No canbus issu...

Re: New seat - options

The tall seat looks like there is virtually no rise to the front of the seat.  The OEM seat is bad enough about sliding into the tank, and that one would be worse.
