Re: Buying from the EU..?
I've just imported some stuff from Germany and had to pay: 20% VAT 2.6% Customs Duty Collection Charge £12 for the Post Office Fortunately for me the seller agreed to refund the charges so no cost to me, although it took over a week from paying the charges to it updating on the Post Office system so...

I believe you should have had a spare barrel with the bike for fitting to a top box. It might be the case that the dealer has held on to it to fit to the case when it comes in, I've had that happen before

Re: Navigator 6
Be careful if bidding for one on ebay as a lot of people list it with a wrong part number, using the speaker part number (77528544460) when it is a non speaker device. There are a couple of what look like real ones for just over £80 at present

Re: Wobbly feeling on my RT coming from a testride on a japanese bike
I only half agree, yes it seems to wander a little but ultimately I find the very low COG makes it easier to ride slowly. I think it is a bit like riding off road, if you expect it to track dead straight and are holding on to the bars to try and force it you are on a hiding to nothing, but if you re...

Re: Wobbly feeling on my RT coming from a testride on a japanese bike
Do you mean that those first miles felt "wobbly"? A bit, it seemed to wander at low speed, the torque reaction to the throttle was unsettling and the feeling on turn in was different enough to make me have to think about the corners; all of which effects are still there even on my 1250 bu...

Re: No level ground for the oil sight glass
Find bit of ground where you can get both wheels at the same level, This will mean the bike will be across the incline.
Get friend to hold bike vertically.
Check oil
Stop worrying about it

Re: Wobbly feeling on my RT coming from a testride on a japanese bike
First miles on an RT generally I hated it, nearly turned round and went straight back to the dealers. I got used to it and got to love it. I think the weight distribution is a large part of the odd feeling as it is concentrated far lower (think where the cylinders/cams/heads etc are in relation to a...

Re: Shift up indicator
On my 2020 it appears to be for economy, not sure of the parameters used but similar to my wife's car. If your light on the throttle it suggests shifting up. I switched mine off, found it distracting having an orange light / symbol appearing on the dash...... as with you, I know when to shift Mine ...

Re: Smoke on Start up After Sitting for a While
There are threads on other forums that talk about smoke on start up if the bike has been parked on side stand. Oil getting into the combustion chamber on the lower cylinder. Could be complete rubbish. I always use centre stand so cannot confirm if this is true or just good old forum bollocks. This ...

Re: Howz about a 1250 thread
Well - I have been thinking about this, but are the differences between the models that big that it's needed? I would say no. There is (IMO) more difference between a wethead and an LC and between an LC and a 1250 so you would just be putting in arbitrary divisions. We should just accept the forum ...

Re: Warranty conditions
Independents can register/create an account with BMW on their Aftersales Online System, https://aos.bmwgroup.com/web/oss/start Once they have done that, they can login to record the work they have done on to the BMW system. I wonder how many VAT registered Independents are aware of this system. It ...

Re: Warranty conditions
The rules got changed in the whole of the EU a while ago so that any competent garage can do the work, prior to that you had to use a franchised dealer. Even though we have left the EU those rules still apply. So even though not as good as your rules it is still a lot better than it was.

Different legal system. You are not allowed to apply the restrictions we have in Europe in the US
