Re: Rear Brake Pads - '18 R1250RT

Hi All, Thank you for all your replies. Just for clarification, the front calipers are BMW branded, the rear Brembo, either way the EBC Double-H Sintered seem to be the popular choice. Thanks all.

Rear Brake Pads - '18 R1250RT

Hi All, In the not too distant future I will need to replace the rear brake pads on the 2018 R1250RT; so questions to the wise. 1. Brembo, EBC etc - I'm assuming all big names are broadly speaking as good as each other. Any particular recommendations? 2. Sintered, Organic, Carbon. - Real world and n...

Re: Cansmart / ezCan for Twin Cam

Hi Rich, I've got a Cansmart from an F800GT going spare (& cheap). It's about 18months old, clean and complete & with all cables, connectors etc and it's been sitting in a box taking up space on the odds & sods shelf since I took it off my GT when I sold it back in the summer. Whether it...

Re: Do you think these may work?

Well they look decent and get good reviews, do you think ground clearance may become an issue? Difficult to say but I put a similar footpeg lowering kit on my F800GT and that didn't cause any problems. I've never grounded anything on my RT, (nor did I on my GT) but that could be because I've had a ...

Re: Do you think these may work?

I've just bought a set of Far East copies of a certain well known German BMW accessories manufacturers footrest lowering kit for my RT. At literally 1/3rd of the price I though they were worth a punt. The arrived last weekend, come with all the brackets & screws the German ones do and certainly ...

Re: Fog lamps

My OEM Fog Lights, when pointed in the fog light position they work remarkably well as dip beams. The trick is not to have them pointed up as Daytime Running Lights as so many do. It takes a couple of tweaks on a country lane to get it right, but they have a good cut off and give a good white light....

Re: Do I need a new battery or is this normal ?

Yep, I had exactly the same situation with my '18 1250RT after I bought it earlier in the year. One day it's be fine, the next, or worse half way through a ride, you'd refuel and it'd seem the battery had gone flat. I suspected it was a battery issue as it had been laid up over the Winter without a ...

If you're just a small but conveniently located bag I've got a nearly new one of these for sale:-

Re: Mesh jackets

I've used and RST Pro Series Ventilator-X CE Textile Jacket & Trousers and overall I'm pretty impressed it in terms of keeping you cool, just one problem, the jacket is a bit short, as in if you got a bit of a beer belly, there's a gap between the jacket and the trousers. It's not a problem on t...

Re: Security whilst touring.

I take two locks with me. 1. A disclock for use if I'm just parking up to see something and the bike is going to be out of sight. And 2. a Litelok Core for overnight use, (regardless of how secure the secure parking claims to be). The Litelock isn't actually that light, but does kind of form a ring ...

Re: Northumberland 250

Whilst I applaud attempt at promoting tourism, I do hope the route & area do not turn it into another NC500 (or as I've heard it nicknamed nowadays, the WC500).
