Re: New to the forum....hello!

I am also a life long HD rider. Went to a 2016 RT and never looked back. I am 5' 10" with a 30" inseam and have no issues. It is so light you won't have any problems.

I mount the same way except from the right with right leg on the peg. Always have and always will.

Softer seat

I just returned from my second trip on my new 2016 R1200RT LC. I now have a little over 10K miles on it and love it more each time I ride it. I would like a softer seat since I will be making many more trips. I am a life long Harley rider and at 67 years old switched to BMW for a easier ride. I use ...

Rear view mirrors

Being a long time Harley rider I can't seem to get use to the low in fairing mirrors of my 2016 R1200RT LC. Does anyone make handlebar mirrors for the RT or is this just a stupid idea?

Re: Exhaust discolouration…?

Why don't someone make chrome heat shields like HD ? That way the head pipe can get ugly, and they will, and the shield will stay nice and clean.

Re: Pannier 'City lids' for R1200RT LC

How about saddle bags for the RT LC that open on the top like the GS. I hate that everything tries to fall out every time you open them up.

Re: 2016 R1200RT LC clutch master cylinder recall

Well I picked up the RT today and all is well. The BMW shop told me that was the most under estimated recall they had ever seen. The factory sent them nice pictures and a step by step repair procedure. They had an estimated time of 1 hour to do the job. It took my shop 8 hours and they are very piss...

Re: 2016 R1200RT LC clutch master cylinder recall

All I know is that I need a new back tire and he showed me the recall on the clutch master cylinder. I will have the work done tomorrow and pass on what I find out. I hope it is not like the Harley hydraulic clutch recall. Pull in the clutch and put it in gear and away you go right thru the intersec...

2016 R1200RT LC clutch master cylinder recall

Does anyone know about a recall on the clutch slave cylinder on the new RT's. If so, is it something that I should rush to have done or is it just precautionary. I went in for a front tire on my 2016 R1200RT LC and the BMW shop said I had a recall on the clutch slave cylinder. They did not have the ...

Re: Bye Bye Harley

At 67 years old, I have also set my HD Ultra aside. My new 2016 RT is like riding back in my dirt bike days. I just completed a 4000 mile trip from Louisiana to the east coast and I am now a BMW rider. I will need to completely clean out my closet of HD stuff and re stock it with BMW stuff.

R1200RT LC Engine and Saddlebag Guards

Well I just returned from a week long 2800 mile trip thru the Smokey mountains. I must say that the 2016 RT ran like a clock and the trip was very comfortable. The curvy roads were a blast and not so much of a workout. This was the first long trip on the Beemer even though I have made many on Harley'...

Re: crusing speed

I agree but what RPM range should I shoot far. Being a life long Harley rider, I am not use to these hi RPM's. It seems that the 1200 loves RPM's but I am just getting use to the bike.

crusing speed

On my 2016 R1200RT LC I was wondering what is the best RPM range to stay in. At 55-57 MPH I can be at 3000-3100 in 6th or 3300-3400 in 5th. The gas mileage seems to be just about the same. I ride a lot around 55 on the back roads and just thinking about what is best.
