Re: Under seat storage
Just thinking out loud here: can you get water tight bags and tie them to the frame with velcro? e.g. https://www.thenorthface.co.uk/shop/en-gb/tnf-gb/base-camp-wash-bag-small-astp has a lot of fastenings through which one could feed velcro strips I just don't know where in the frame you would atta...

Re: Under seat storage
If your bike doesn't have the audio option fitted, there is some useful space behind the dashboard speaker grilles. I have an Airman compressor in one side and a basic toolkit and a few spare bulbs etc in the other. Everything is in heavy-duty ziploc bags. The torx driver under the seat can be used...

Re: Crash bars or head covers?
I just did exactly that. I went with Wunderlich engine bars for a couple of reasons.. the mounts seemed stronger than Ilium, and I had a couple of price-reductions that got them into the garage at about $40 US less than Ilium. But I strongly favored the Ilium rear bars for their ease of removal whe...

Under seat storage
I discovered today that the under seat storage is none existent on the RT! On the FJR I managed to get in a decent tool kit, stop and go puncture repair kit, Small air compressor and a tyre pressure gauge. I am struggling with the tyre pressure gauge on the RT :)) I have seen one of these ...

Re: Crash bars or head covers?
Have a look at Illium rear bars, you can fit with any front bars. They are low so don't impact passengers calves and they are quickly removable if you ever ride without bags. There is a UK distributor. sportouring.co.uk Yes I have seen those I also saw the price! :)) but needs m...

Re: Crash bars or head covers?
Both! Head covers to protect from rocks, crap, etc, thrown up from the road. Engine bars to provide additional protection in the event of a slow speed tip-over. Both it is then :)) Has anyone had any issues with rear bars interfering with pillions feet? I have heard some people mention it...

Crash bars or head covers?
As above really
What and why?
My 2016 has head covers already but I am wondering if I should fit crash bars instead? do they offer more protection?

Re: FJR1300 V's R1200RT
Welcome! Is that a huge BMW logo on the side of the tank? Is it stuck on? You have just discovered what we BMW riders have known for so long. Namely (and generalising a bit) that the Japanese bikes are all about the magnificent engines viz FJR1300, Kawasaki GTR1400 or supercharged Z1000SX H2, where...
