Re: What have you got planned for 2016?

Hoping to have a go at this, adverse weather forced cancellation this year. 660 ish miles and another 600 or so there and back. Looks abit of a mish mash but can't avoid a little overlap.                     &a...

Re: Touratech Engine Guards Installed

Bought my 2011 TC with Touratech bars fitted. I think they look ok in stainless, not so sure about any other sort. I wouldn't have bought them myself @ £317 but I won't be taking them off either. riding round on a bike that looks sleek, Could do with a loan of your rose tinted goggles. The RT is no...

Re: Route transfer to 660

@David. Sorry, didn't read your post properly. I have just downloaded both routes independently into my 660 with no issues and both opened ok.
I presume you're on 2016.2.

Re: Route transfer to 660

^ @David. The first file arrived from you as a .gpx and the second .gdb. I transferred both (having renamed one) to my Routes folder from 'Downloads' and they both opened in Mapsource as .gdb with no issues. I was expecting the .gpx file to open as straight lines and then have to recalculate but tha...

Re: Route transfer to 660

Been using Mapsource and Zumo 660 for years with no problems. The Mapsource system only manipulates the Map Data so doesn't need updating if it's working ok. When constructing the route in Mapsource there are options as to which format to save the file in. Choose .gdb and send to the Zumo as normal....

Re: Centre of Britain Trip - June 2016

Thanks for the route David, opens fine in Mapsource which I find easier than Basecamp. Maybe that's because I've used Mapsource for years and am a bit resistant to change. 'Better the devil you know' I think holds true especially with anything Garmin related. I have Tom Tom in the car and in many wa...

Re: Fancy a Change ?.

The thing that attracted me back to the FJR was the ESA, don't think I would have bothered without it. That's where the RT had the upper hand IMO with the add ons ie Cruise Control, ESA and heated seats etc. over the Gen 2 FJRs. With the Gen 3 FJR AE, that was sorted. The ESA really transforms the b...

See Post #19

Works very well mounted in map area of tankbag so it can be used and seen and protected from the weather.

Re: Keis Heated Clothing

DaygloDavid if you go for the sleeved jacket or body warmer might I suggest you find a stockist and try them on. I found the sleeved jacket too bulky under my normal winter jacket. The body warmer is far less bulky. I have also found that keeping your body core warm is sufficient. Both are excellen...

Re: Fancy a Change ?.

Switch gear is sure to look neater. Hadn't got to deal with cruise control, engine modes, ESA, Had all that. Better organised and better put together on the FJR. Only ridden an FJR once, three or four years ago.  I recollect a turbine-smooth engine; constantly tooting the horn when trying ...

Re: Fancy a Change ?.

Absolutely fantastic bike, FJR 1300, had 5, the last of which was a 2014 AE, which I kept for 12 months. Like a change so now back on a 2011 RT SE. The electronics package on the new model is far superior to my TC RT as is the engine and pretty much everything else BUT there's summat about a BMW des...

Re: Retro Fit

I believe some Scala Rider Headsets include FM Radio, might be worth a look. I have a Scala Sho 1 on my Shoei Neotec and the FM radio is pretty good. Can have presets when riding around the same area or automatically tune for 6 presets in the current area. Reception varies. Can always get something...
