Re: First Ride Out of the Year

Good to hear you managed fine, neighbour had a knee replacement this year and is happy as 'larry' with it, doing virtually everything she used to with no discomfort. All good to hear as my knees ain't great after a lot of running and sports.  Thought they would be shot by now but still hang...

Re: Back to an RT

Just rang Hastings Direct to talk about changing the insurance over. Nice lady tells me that she can't give me a price/quote because the 1250 RT's not on their database. Interesting because it is on the price comparison websites. I'm with Hastings direct and had no issue wit same despite the looooo...

Re: Givi UT810 Tanklock bag

I didn't like losing the rails either or the harnes option for the new bike, so I went the magnetic attachment route with a Hepco & Becker"Street" tankbag (14 - 19 litres) and have found it to be excellent - I fitted mine out with black ester foam for an SLR and lenses etc.Well made a...

Re: 28 litre topbox

Whoops, two 'senior' moments in above post!  Wrong quote inserted and original top box for 2010's must be bigger than 28 litres!  However suspect the same re fitting applies

Fender extender for R1250RT

Bit early I suspect but has anyone found a fender extender that will fit the 1250RT with the new 'spoilers' in place?

Re: Back to an RT

Hi Mike, welcome, only recently joined myself, learnt a lot before I did so, seems a great and nicely specific forum. Picking up my 1250 today. Mixed emotions (as you may have) as my 2010 RT has been great but the RT has moved on a long way, biggest step by the first LC 2014 model but too early for ...

Re: 28 litre topbox

Yes Assuming the 28 litre top box is the one fitted to 2010RT model can confirm.  The lock has to be changed to suit the new key and it will not work with central locking but saves a small fortune  . Picking 1250 up today along with top box with changed lock, if ...

Re: Another Satnav Lock Option?

Yeh, understand that & your 'solution' will continue to be the same for me, at least as long as I stick with the Nav IV and that may well be as long as it or indeed I last :pee: ( The BMW / Garmin Navs are so well made my IV could easily outlast me as long as they continue to be supported) as I ...

Re: Givi UT810 Tanklock bag

Congrats re retirementbe. Your trip sounds great......Love France, almost sadly the trip is not dedicated to riding as lucky enough to have a small place out there. Say lucky despite both house and land still requiring lots of work! Will have a very enjoyable ride there & back over two days each...

Re: Tank Bag Options

Hi Brian, Congrats re the bike, sure you will have years of fun.  Assuming you mean the tank rails.  I love ‘em but guess you won’t be so endeared. Not sure if you have seen my posts re part ex’ing my 2010 RT but just so happens I’ll sadly soon have a redundant BMW bag in good nick...

Re: Givi UT810 Tanklock bag

Cheers Geordielad, Had wondered about the magnetic option and the Hepco & Becker looks a nice bag, will investigate further, thanks! Might just take a trip to Givi in Daventry, can extend my look at Givi bags then and will include their magnetic options, will help rack up the first service 500 b...

Re: Another Satnav Lock Option?

Yes it is a glaring omission on such a great bike to let several hundred quids-worth of sat nav free to the light fingered, while various fluids are inserted or removed to/from me and the bike.  As it says, it is not an overnight solution (the determined will butcher a way past it) but for...

Re: Hi and Thank you

True, you are not alone in dropping RT's and I have considered getting something lighter, but what? When it comes to costs, BMW are very good at adding zero's to the price of bikes, spares and accessories  :beee: so what I am looking for in my next bike from them is that they retain the po...
