Changing to K&N air filter?

Hello Team: Is really worth it to install the K&N air filter? (higher air flow). In my other bikes I always do that in conjunction with an open slip-on and FI controller (stage 1). Not sure if the RT needs to go stage 1 because I feel it already pulls very fast. Also, can I replace the air filte...

Re: City Lids for RTLC models

I will be interested in the ones for the air heads (2010 - 2013).

So far seems like the only option for slim panniers will be the nylon/soft type. saddlebags:

Re: Soft saddlebags?

Why do you find the standard bags too big. Do you have an access problem somewhere ?. The standard panniers, sorry, bags, really enhance to overall appearance of the bike as well as affording a good degree of protection from road muck and even collision protection. I would have thought that securin...

Soft saddlebags?

Hello Team: I am using my new to me R1200RT as my daily mode of transportation but I think the stock hard bags are to big for my daily commute needs. They are fine for the long trips where you need to carry more but what about just for the daily commute? Any alternatives in softbags? Thinking bout t...

Re: Muffler noise (more) withoput changing to Remus etc

Interesting statement! Looking at your signature, I see the two loudest bikes are slower than the fastest and most quiet one.......... Yes! That's correct, both Harley's are extremely loud on purpose. Now my fastest one can not be the quite one! If is faster than her stable siblings also needs to b...

Re: Muffler noise (more) withoput changing to Remus etc

The stock muffler is to quite for my taste. The louder the better for me. Thinking about adapting this. Do not want to mess with the flap valve (removal). Just want more noise. Motorcycles are supposed to be fast, mean and LOUD! https://www.autozone.com/emission-control-and-exhaust/exhaust-pipe/walk...

Upshifting RPM's

Hello Team new RT owner here and pardon my ignorance.

At what RPM's is advisable to do the up-shift? I have been doing it at around 4000RPM's. I don't want to lug the engine because that is supposed to be very bad.

Thank you very much.

You can also use the magnets from old computer hard drives. Just take the hard drive apart and remove the magnets. They are very strong.

Re: Installing LED bulbs?

The skene lights systems looks interesting. Thanks for the tip.

The problem with the load resistor is that it consumes 50W! my idea of the LED bulbs is to make it easy on the battery. Regular brake/tail bulbs only consume 21W. Plus not sure about all the heat generated by the resistor.

UPDATE

Hello Team: I installed the LED's bulbs for the Tail/Brake light and the difference is day & night. The LED's are super bright but as you guys mentioned now I have the warning light on + the rear bulb defective indicator on. I guess the change is worth it and the indicator on is not big deal. I ...

Re: Loose connector under ignition key?

If I can add to the confusion here... I had my GPS connected directly to the battery, just as the instructions suggests. Always remove the unit from the cradle when not in use, even in my garage. Always covered the contact points with the little rubber cap provided. I noticed the battery going down...

Installing LED bulbs?

Hello Team and pardon my ignorance.

Will installing LED’s bulbs for the tail/break lights and marker lights will disrupt the CAN-BUS system?

Thank you.
