Re: R1200 RT vs TT1200 SE

Which other Tourers would you suggest are better looking than the current LC RT. Most of the bunch, eg.,GTR, FJR, K1600, Guzzi Norge , Pan and even the TT1200  all have better lines than ANY  RT of recent times, not just the LC. The fact that the boxer engine has cylinders which s...

Well I would agree that I have bought the best looking RT (2014 LC) but there are better looking tourers out there, just that they don't ride anywhere near as good as the RT LC.  :)

Re: R1200 RT vs TT1200 SE

Nice uncluttered pictures David. They do give good view of what the bikes actually look like. My own judgement in order of preference is as follows. 1st and best by a country mile, Twincam RT. 2nd Triumph Trophy althought the fairing lower section and section where it joins the upper looks a bit &q...

Err, no, more likely just that he is a bit envious that he has a TT and not the LC RT.

Re: R1200 RT vs TT1200 SE

So,in summary, while Triumph were busy copying the outgoing RT, BMW were busy developing a new liquid cooled model, thus maintaining the gap. I think the TT is a good bike with a great engine but heavy, and does not carry it's weight well at low speed. My best riding buddy tested the outgoing RT v T...

Enjoy reading your blog John, some good photos and vids as well.
Love Scotland, whatever the means of transport, on bike even better.
Thanks for taking the time to share it all.

Re: Touring advice wanted

Well...you can't start to think hire until you know where from and that depends on where you want to ride. France is a big place so best to decide region and look to hire a bike IN that region. I don't see any sense in flying into the UK to hire and start your tour as this just takes time out of wha...

I have got the same on one side, annoying and due to a pretty tacky design I think. Panels should screw fit.

Re: Reliability of the R1200RT---year after recall

7000 miles on my 2014 model since January this year, Bike was one of the bikes recalled and new shock fitted after 500 miles. Took it down to South France and the Alps in June in pretty hot weather and rode it in all weathers in UK in early 2015 (including some pretty cold days when it was only marg...

And me in May last year when I was riding an Aprillia Caponord TPP. The sweeping bends from that point down to Potes were fun. Wish I had been on the RT, glad you had a good trip.

PS, the guy pictured is not me but the bike in the bottom left is the Capo. I took the photo.

Re: A day out to Lawers Dam & Kenmore - Scotland

Thanks for a great post. Scotland is just soooo good on a bike. Self and wife were travelling out to Oban from Glasgow to catch the ferry to Barra on the 15th August, (in a hire car as wife non biker), and saw at least 3 RT LC's en-route including a couple riding together without luggage who I assum...
