Re: Right angle tyre valve adapters
The screw on adapters to extend the valve are an MOT failure in the UK, if left on the valve (so I was told when I had them on my last bike). The centrifugal force could rip out a traditional rubber value fitting! Not sure it could do the same to a BMW value, but as already menti...

Re: Deep clean
The moral of the story is .... put the lids on the takeaway tubs!
I'm glad it all went back together again OK.

Re: North Coast 500 (Scotland)
I've always wanted to do the north off Scotland, but not in a day! Anyone seriously interested in doing it over say 4-5 days (after arriving in Inverness). I'm also too old to be digging latrines so B&B / hotels all the way.

Re: Alternative satnav - update
As the iPhone is in a waterproof case, it turns out you can tap the screen wearing gloves, and it all works!

Re: Full face Helmet or Flip front
Heaven forbid, but accidents do happen. I had the misfortune to come off and roll a dozen times on tarmac (11 years ago). The visor and chin area of my full face helmet was almost destroyed. I have not worn an open face helmet since. I'm sure they do the job in a minor ...

Re: Corrosion
WD40 is only a water displacement product it will wash off quickly and as far as I know was never designed to prevent corrosion. IMHO ACF50 is a far better product. It was designed to protect US aircraft on aircraft carriers from the salty environment. I think a common mistake people make is they g...

Re: Alternative satnav
TomTom app works on GPS, not data or phone signal, so its free.
I subscribe to the traffic service; its less than £2 a month, but its invaluable. For example it tells you the M25 is blocked and re-routes you etc etc. It works across Europe.

Re: How do you aim your mirrors?
Already mentioned, but blind spot mirrors are great. They do exactly what they are designed to do - take out all the blind spots. I've tested the Summit ones and nothing can come alongside you on a 3 lane motorway without you either physically seeing it out of the corner of your ...

Re: Alternative satnav
The problem is the apps for smart phones are improving almost daily, and the mobiles themselves are being upgraded, often more than once a year. So unless a device like the Nav V is following the same course, it is bound to feel less than up to date ... when compared side by side. I have a...

Alternative satnav
I know its not a real replacement for a Nav V, but I've hooked up my iPhone 6 again as my SatNav. It worked really well on my previous bike (Yamaha FJR 1300) so in the absence of £550, I've screwed a RAM mount ball to the BMW plastic cover (I reckon that when I get the proper satnav, I can buy anoth...

Cee Baileys Windscreen
I've used Cee Baileys screens on 2 previous RTs back in the early naughties, and on 2 FJRs, and thinking of changing the standard screen on my 1200RT. Anyone out there used them on the latest bike?

Re: Corrosion
Some things never change! I've just come back to an RT after an almost 10 year gap. I had plenty of warranty work done on my 1100 and 1150 air heads. I even had a complete new set of forks replaced because the corrosion was so bad the dealer was embarrassed even though ...
