Re: Auxiliary Headlights
My thinking is : BMWs auxiliary lights should not be used in daylight, just as car drivers should not use their fog lights (front or rear) unless there is fog. There are however auxiliary lights made by Ring, Denali and PIAA which are not fog lights. They have a narrower beam and are inten...

Re: Question :- can anyone please tell me how to switch off my headlights ?
It's called progress! It is, of course ! ;D In all seriousness, I'm very impressed with the technology built into the modern BMW which tries to cover all eventualities and keep us safe, and that includes switching on or switching over lights. But - I still can't fathom the switc...

Re: Question :- can anyone please tell me how to switch off my headlights ?
From the Rider's Manual, "By comparison with the low-beam headlight, the daytime running light makes the vehicle more visible to oncoming traffic. This improves daytime visibility." I think the "angel eyes" LED daytime running lights ar...

Re: Question :- can anyone please tell me how to switch off my headlights ?
Switching off lights to save the cost and effort of replacing them doesn't seem to me like a wise move. If the concern is that they may fail at an inconvenient time / place, then I would suggest replacing them annually at a convenient time as a preventative measure. They normally last at l...

Re: Replacement Battery recommendations
Has anyone ever used an Odyssey PC535 in their 2014-2018 1200RT ?? Given the dimensions (170mm x 99mm x 155mm), I'm guessing it's too big to fit in a RT later than 2013. The dimensions need to be within 150 x 90 x 160. I tried to find an Odyssey battery suitable for my bike but they don't...

Re: Replacement Battery recommendations
The OP is looking for recommendations for a replacement battery to fit a 2014-2017 R1200RT. I'm going to replace my bike's battery, and you'll see from my identifier that my R1200RT is a 2017 model year. It is very important to be clear what bike you have since air cooled versions had very different...

Re: Replacement Battery recommendations
Unless something changes, I'm going to buy a MotoBatt MBYZ16HD from Tayna Batteries. (Probably in March).
The specs say it will fit, give more cold cranking amps and cost less than a replacement battery bought from my local BMW dealer.
I hope you'll let us know what you decide on and how it fits.

Re: Replace low beam head light with LED on 2017 RT
Why not tell us exactly what it is you're thinking of buying ? Someone might then be able to offer some specific advice ..... In general, it is possible to make an LED device "look" the same as the halogen bulb to the canbus system, thus fooling the bike to believing it still has the OE bu...

Re: R1250RT brake fault
OK, thanks for the update. :) It does still feel odd, that you could potentially set off on a multi-thousand mile trip with a bike sufficiently "faulty" that both front brake calipers are going to be replaced as soon as replacements are available. I'm guessing that you won't be d...

Re: R1250RT brake fault
...... Don't see why I cannot have my bike back if they have done all the tests on the bike and they are just waiting for a reply from the technical department. Will update on Monday. Maybe they're concerned that the technical report could come back saying this is a safety issue as the brakes may c...

Re: Battery dimensions
Many thanks guys - lots of useful information. If I decide to go for the MBTX16U from Tayna, I stand to save £90 against the price quoted (presumably for an Exide) by my local BMW dealer. Higher Ampere Hour rating, higher Cold Cranking Amps, two year guarantee and a £90 ...
