Re: Six years in and still hanging onto it.
When are you going to Hilltop, I've got my 2012 Twin-cam booked in for the end of August 2019. I'm not looking for any power gain, just to have the fueling set up correctly for better throttle response & a nicer bike to ride. I'll not be having the dyno runs, they are just for vanity, my feelin...

Six years in and still hanging onto it.
I purchased my twin-cam 1200RT new in January of 2013 so it has been mine for six and a half years. Despite the relatively pampered life (Garaged, used year round but not in the worst of winter and not on salted roads) it has had a few niggles. One of the heated grips failed so t...

Re: Removing vignettes without marking screen
When in certain countries (eg Switzerland) and you use their motorways, it is compulsory to have a Vignette sticker. This is effectively a road toll. If you don't use the motorway you don't need one. However, if you do use the motorway and get spotted without a Vignette, the fines are hefty. It is ...

Re: Looking at some changes
I have a C4 and a Shoei Qwest. The noise when wearing the Shoei is about the same on a naked bike or the RT. The C4 is noisier on the RT than on a naked bike. I don't think that noise levels are just about more or less airflow - it's also about how smooth that airflow i...

Looking at some changes
I must confess that, whenever discussions around changing screens arise I am usually a bit cynical as I have not particularly had an issue with my OE screen. That may now have changed. I am starting to suffer with tinnitus and I am finding that, on longer journeys, the wind&n...

Re: Optimate 4 Won't Work
Here's an update. I took the bike off charge (via Can Bus) on Saturday as I was getting ready for a trip to Spain tomorrow. The Optimate showed the battery condition as good. When I turned the ignition on the bike had no power at all - not even the instrument lights ill...

Your engine will tell you if you are labouring it (ie not enough RPM) Just learn to listen to it.

Optimate 4 Won't Work
Anyone using the canbus-enabled Optimate 4? I cannot get mine to work when using the connection to the power outlet. After being connected overnight the display shows light 1 (power on) illuminated, light 6 flashing and light 8 flashing. I have tried connecting when the...

What is there underneath that is more expensive than the panniers? Not much I think. timminator wrote:The panniers will absorb the fall and protect some more expensive components underneath them.

They survive well in the dry climate. I've seen lots of older bikes in decent nick on our travels around Spain.

Re: Newbie...a few questions about my 2010 RT 1200 SE
Hello all. Just bought my first RT 1200 SE Welcome and congratulations! I have a twin-cam that I have had since Jan 13. It's a great bike and, even though mine has an easy life, I have a couple of issues with corrosion. Fortunately in my case it is the lower fairing st...

Thanks for the reply, I'm a bit of a short arse at 5"10 with a 29 inside leg Likewise I feel your pain. In my case knees as a result of 25 years as a Hooker. I am also the same height & inside leg as you. Have you considered having the current seat re-shaped? ...
