Metzeler Z8 - no repair?
Hi Guys, (and Gals, if there are any!), I've recently had a new Metzeler Z8 fitted to my spare rear wheel. I was swapping wheels, getting my bike set up for a forthcoming trip to Austria and I've just noticed that the 'small print' on the sidewall of the tyre says 'repairs of this motorcycle tyres i...

Re: RT Stripes.
It's not identical, but it's a very similar colour scheme to the Japanese-market 'Anniversary' bike. We in the UK got the 'Iconic', while Japan had this version. See this YouTube link. There's a detail shot of the badging at about the 2:30 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1-2X4L4vhk&t=21s ...

Re: New to forum. Need help with 2019 RT Seat
@ Ross63 - do you have the 'high' seat or the 'standard' one? The high version is, er, higher, but also more thickly padded. I'm a fraction under 6 feet tall, with a 32-inch inside leg measurement and I can ride all day without any discomfort. On my previous RTs - hexhead and twin-cam, I had some To...

Re: Retired or about to retire?
I'll be 57 at the end of July and I'm planning on retiring then. I've been riding BMWs since 1993 and have had every model of the RT since 2000. Currently on my 2nd RT LC, but can't justify a change to the shiftcam. Hopefully, less time at work should give me greater opportunity to ride more, but to...

Re: Tool Storage on R1250RT
Hi Pete, there is a bit of usable space in the seat tail. Also, if you don't have the audio option, there is a large usable space behind each 'dummy' speaker grille in the dashboard. I have a box of bulbs and some tools in one side and my Airman compressor in the other side, both wrapped in heavy-ga...

Re: Anyone know........
Yep, it's the trim part that goes around the pannier hanging lug, where it protrudes through the body side panel under the seat. Part number 4 in this diagram: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0A03-EUR-07-2018-K52-BMW-R_1200_RT_0A03,_0A13_&diagId=46_1600 If you remove the panniers an...

Re: Central Locking
If you have the 'fully featured' top box, with central locking, interior light etc, then yes, it should just be 'plug and play'. The cable harness from the top box plugs into a matching socket under the rear seat of the bike. It all should work straight away - no dealer enabling or coding required. ...

Becker mamba 4 sat nav for sale - NOW SOLD

Re: R1200RT (BMW) Top Box
Hi Matt, I think that the £442 top box may be the 'pre-LC' version? It fits perfectly well and is a good box, but if you have central locking on your bike, then the earlier topbox doesn't have that function available, or the opportunity to add a high-level brake light. For details of the 'LC' (and K...

More info. from Adventure Rider about ECU Remapping by Hilltop, https://advrider.com/f/threads/e-c-u-remap-by-hilltop-motorcycles.847046/ There is also lots of discussion, going back several years, with a positive response on the 'UKGSer.com' forum. http://www.ukgser.com/forums/search.php?searchid=...

Re: Performance tuning kit for R1200RT (Air/Oil cooled)
Has anyone had any experience of either Hilltop http://hilltopmotorcycles.co.uk/ and/or Race HQ http://racehq.co.uk/ wrt setting up a TC RT. Any comments and feedback would be most welcome, thanks. I had my twin-cam RT remapped at Hilltop. It made a very good improvement, over the entire rev range....

Re: Top box questions.
Hi Phil, I bought a second-hand box too, and had the lid painted to match my bike! I fitted the high-level brake light. I'm told that the wire under the backrest is there to power a heated backrest, not fitted to RTs, but is fitted to some other models which use the same box (some K1600 versions?). ...

Re: Which Screen ?
I have the BMW 'Comfort' screen on my LC. It's only slightly higher than the standard RT screen, but your Sports screen is smaller than the standard one. The Comfort screen is wider than standard. For info, I'm a fraction under 6 feet tall, with 32 inch legs. I have the 'high' seat on my bike, but i...
