Re: Exhaust Flap Bowden cables R1250RT
Thanks for the offer Casbar - I've watched a few you tube videos of them being freed off :)) Yes, mine will not go to the "closed" stop on the mechanism and I haven't tried to force it as it is clearly a warranty job so it'll just have to wait until I can get it done. Wonder if the dealers...

Re: Exhaust Flap Bowden cables R1250RT
Hmm - mine won't go fully closed if I turn it by hand. I didn't try forcing it because I assumed that it would never fully close as that would be weird to say the least? But if it should close fully as you say then mine is definitely not right. I'm not keen on taking it to the local dealer (they but...

Re: Exhaust Flap Bowden cables R1250RT
I shall update this thread when I have news to report. The bike has been used in all weathers and very seldom for journeys less than about 100 miles. Two things had happened before the yellow dash light came on - I had cleaned the bike and applied ACF50 about a week before, and I had ridden to the d...

Re: Exhaust Flap Bowden cables R1250RT
Hmm - my flap hasn't seized (no laughter please missus), at least if I take the cover off I can turn it quite easily. But I do have the yellow engine warning light on the dash. GS911 says it's the "emissions" system/ flap servo. Can clear the fault and all is ...

Re: Exhaust Flap Bowden cables R1250RT
Yes - in that photo it looks like one of the cables is actually resting (rubbing?) on the "loop", as is one of mine. In 10000 miles on my previous RS I had no problems with the flap, so never had occasion to look at that area. However, as I say above the repair DVD refers to "heat shi...

Exhaust Flap Bowden cables R1250RT
Whilst investigating the possible cause of a "check engine light" on the dash - GS911 indicates it's a problem with the exhaust flap/servo system (at only 5700 miles :'( ) I noticed that at least one of the Bowden cables between the servo and the flap is resting on a small "...

Re: BaseCamp for windows
I'm running it on Win 10 PCs. I note that the "Install update" option has now gone from my "Help" menu, maybe it's only there when an update is available?David. wrote: Are you running BaseCamp on a Windows or Mac computer.

Re: Fixings for RH battery cover panel R1250RT
Thanks for the reply daverj. With regard to the LH/RH question, one difference I see is that the clip nut can rotate on the plastic lug when tightening the screw - on the LHS it rotates "upwards" and so remains hidden behind the plastic, whereas on the RHS it rotates such that a ...

Run Basecamp, go to Help - About Garmin Basecamp that will tell you the version you have. Update can also be installed from the Help menu.

Re: Fixings for RH battery cover panel R1250RT
My 3 screws are all the same length - another M&P "variation"? Wonder why BMW used a clip nut on the LHS and the rubber thingy on the right? Speaking of which daverj, have you ordered these from BMW or have you found another source? The good news (I hope) is that rather than wait anoth...

Fixings for RH battery cover panel R1250RT
Whilst removing the 3 screws in order to remove the RH panel in order to gain access to the diagnostic connector (yes, my exhaust flap appears to have seized at 5700 miles) I found that the middle screw (the one above the cylinder) was difficult to remove. When I finally got it out it appe...

Re: Insurance quote weirdness.
Hmm - mine is in a locked garage, two cameras on the house, one camera on the garage and one inside the garage. 71 next month, full no claims, about 5000 miles a year. Must be this rough suburb I inhabit (without knowing it) :wonder:

Re: Insurance quote weirdness.
Blimey how do you guys get such cheap quotes? Here in Cardiff mine was £405 last year, and they refused to insure it all unless I had a tracker fitted. Bike is kept in a locked garage.
