Re: Bike cleaning products

In Australia we have a product called CT18 Truck Wash. Mix with water 1:10 or higher, spray on and leave to soak, hose off. It still sometimes needs a brushing on tough spots. It's quite good for the engine areas with fiddly bits like the finned cylinder barrels and the front of the engine case wher...

Re: 2014 R1200RT doesn't start on 1st try

Mine starts first time almost every time.
I had a period where it usually didn't always start first try and that was because my battery was failing, once it was replaced the problem stopped.

Re: New Garmin Express Update ... Now 5.4.0.0

That map update version must be locale specific.
My Garmin Express updated to the version mentioned here, but the Australia map is still at 2018.10

Re: Flaw in the directional and flashers switch?

I don't know much (anything) about Canbus, but the symptoms could indicate a bad earth for the indicator lights, so the earth goes through the other one causing it to flash too.

Re: Anyone Using BMW's fuel additive?

Direct from BMW, TIS Technical Bulletin #13 05 06: "If the TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is unavailable, we recommend BMW Group Fuel System Cleaner Plus (PN 82 14 0 413 341) be added to the gas tank." It seem odd that a European company would be issuing technical bulletins with US colloquia...

Re: Summer Tour - Boots thoughts

Altberg Hogg boots, brilliant. I was interested in the Altberg boots, but we have no importer/sales here is Australia, so very hard to order a pair without trying them on. I seem to have difficult feet and find many boots and shoes uncomfortable. So I really have to stick with those available to tr...

Re: Summer Tour - Boots thoughts

+ 1 on the TCX boot. The wife and I wear them when (sedately!) touring Europe. Yes, they're waterproof but I imagine they'd result in wet feet in the event of heavy sustained rain! Comfort-wise and for wearing as general footwear off the bike, can't beat them, and they do help keep your feet cool w...

Re: Aussie RT in the sun (infrared)

Thanks all  :-) @smileymiley Not really very technical. A standard digital camera has a filter over the sensor which blocks ultraviolet (shorter wavelengths than visible light) and also infrared (longer wavelengths than visible light). It just allows the normal spectrum of light colours tha...

Re: Summer Tour - Boots thoughts

Amazon show these as waterproof but not Gortex or anything else breathable.  Also don't seem to have much protection like ancle support. I wouldn't feel secure in them for sure. Yes, that's right, not a boot for serious riding, I'd modify my riding and level of caution accordingly. The WP ...

Re: Summer Tour - Boots thoughts

I'm looking for a boot that is good for walking around and doing photography off the bike and am strongly considering the TCX Street Ace Air, I'm about to order a pair of TCX Street Ace WP for the same reason and Winter riding. They're a short boot, but sound like they'll be better suited for walkin...
