seat foam

has anyone removed the cover from the standard 1200rt 08 seat to re foam it.  Looking at the cost of £24.00 it seams a cheap option with closed cell foam base and  a more compliant foam as a topper. But what is the thickness before i order or should i just peel it off and look?
