Re: 2016 R1200RT eating batteries?

My 2015 RT had a significant parasitic draw but was still under warranty when I brought it to the dealer for diagnosis. I still don’t believe what he told me: the 12V accessory socket had a constant draw, even with the ignition off and nothing plugged into it. A service bulletin-recommended ECU refl...

Re: Handling Issues.

I assume the bike is new and has fresh tires. If so, what are the tire pressures (according to a reliable gauge, not the bike’s TPMS)? Most folks seem to run 36F/42R cold or thereabouts with no complaint. I run slightly higher pressures as I seem to get a few more miles out of the tires that way. Ke...

Re: New Member in Colorado

In addition to the Thunder Mtn Rendezvous, there’s also the annual Top of the Rockies BMW rally in Paonia, CO (this year’s rally is next weekend) and the annual 100,000’ Ride which starts in Denver each August. Both events are organized by the BMW Motorcycle Club of Colorado and usually sell out.

Re: New Member in Colorado

Welcome from another Colorado RT owner. For parts, I patronize the two dealers in the Denver area, but I also buy stuff online from Revzilla, Bob’s, and Morton’s. Unless one of them is having a sale, all of the prices on OE parts are about the same. I avoid aftermarket stuff whenever possible.

No issue if you live in the U.S. I can’t speak to other countries.

Just confirming you and the Mrs are wearing earplugs. If not, you may find they reduce wind noise down to a reasonable level, regardless of which bike you choose.

Re: Greetings from a Newbie

Congrats and welcome! We’re the same age and both have Guzzi experience. I’m located in the mountains about thirty minutes west of Denver. If you need any assistance or simply a place to flop on your trip out west, send me a PM. I have plenty of space and you’ll find lots of good riding around here.

Re: Selling my R1200 RT 2005 Any Suggestions

I think Craig’s is probably your best bet, unless you have a dealer nearby who can put the bike in their showroom and sell it on consignment. In my experience, if you price it fairly, it’ll be a no-anguish sale. Good luck!

I’m using the Suburban Machinery (USA) lowering kit and couldn’t be happier. For reference, I’m 6’6” (1,98).

Re: Nav V - very weird

That’s a great question and that might make sense, but no. In fact, before breakfast, I removed the Nav and stowed it in the left-side cubby.

Oh well, just one of those things. It’d be nice to have the “My Motorcycle” feature on a ‘15 RT. I’m just stuck as to how it happened and where it came from.

Re: Which Sat. Nav. have you got & why?

Nav V. It came with the bike but I rarely, if ever, use it. Just no need. I use a Sena for telephone and music and simply don’t bother with the Nav, nor do I need its mapping and routing features. I wouldn’t buy any navigator, regardless of brand. That said, I’m disappointed with how easily the unit...

Understood, but there was no map, just a grid like this. And it wasn’t my data.

Nav V - very weird

I stopped for breakfast after a short ride yesterday and upon returning to the bike and switching on the Nav, it was displaying a screen I’ve never seen before, almost like a GS screen. The display was divided into multiple sections which showed avg speed, max speed, elevation, GPS coordinates, fuel...

Re: Looking for a smaller BMW tourer.

Yes, standard bars, and they can be rotated or heightened with risers as needed. No reliability issues with the Rotax engine that I’m aware of, though the cam chain tensioner needs a few seconds at startup before it pressurizes. The gearbox is a sweetheart. Here’s my ‘13: [img]http:// https://i.imgu...

Re: Looking for a smaller BMW tourer.

The F800GT checks all of your boxes. 800cc, can be fitted with factory locking hard bags and top case, light weight (about 470 lbs), excellent fuel mileage, ABS, rear ESA, and of course belt drive.
