Re: Air vests video
I’ve worn my Helite Turtle for 3-4 years now and would feel naked without it. Remembering to connect the tether is really no different than fastening your seatbelt in a car. I was knocked off my bike at a standstill by another rider and the vest inflated before I even hit the ground.

Re: Can You Name Your Tyres ?.
I’m picky with the tires and fluids on my bikes, but on my car? Who knows? The dealer services my car and uses whatever he uses.

I’d choose the ‘15 RT. You won’t remember the price difference after a month of ownership.

Re: ### Warranty Costs for 8 Months ###
Oh well, that’s what the warranty is for. Sorry to hear about your brakes, but it’ll get sorted.
I had an early-production ‘98 K1200RS and lots of stuff was replaced under warranty (including a new engine), even after the bike was out of warranty. All good.

I’ve done seven tours with Edelweiss and highly recommend them. For me, it’s worth the money every time.

Re: Battery replacement OEM or Lithium Ion??
Not a scientific response, but if the OE didn’t originally specify Li, then I see no reason to change, especially considering the added cost. A few pounds of weight savings would likely go unnoticed on an RT anyway. Case in point: my bike feels no different with a full tank of gas than it does when ...

A BMW high comfort seat for my R1200R, simply because it was 20% off with free shipping and no sales tax.

Re: New member here
Not my ‘15 RT, but my ‘98 K1200RS that I bought new did 134,000 miles with nothing but periodic fluid changes, brake pads, valve inspections, and tires. Maintain the bike and you should have nothing to worry about.

Re: What did you do today?
Topped the bikes off with Stabil and fresh fuel today and then tucked them away and plugged them in for the winter. You can ride all year here if you really want, but for me it’s only enjoyable from late May to early October.

Re: Refusing to start !
My 2015 RT exhibited a similar problem. Dealer replaced the battery but it would go flat after a few days. Dealer then suggested I bring the bike back for a software upgrade. Apparently the accessory socket, even without a load on it, wouldn't turn off and was causing the battery to drain. It was a ...

Re: Rain Gear
One word: Gore-Tex. Ever since buying a riding suit and boots with a Gore-Tex membrane, I’ve never had to pack separate rain gear or togs or stop on the side of the road to gear up. Most popular brands either offer Gore-Tex or a proprietary breathable, weather-proof membrane in their top outfits. Th...

Re: Alternator Belt
I got stranded when the belt failed on a hired R1150R in the Dolomites about fifteen years ago. The bike had about 38000 miles and I reckon the belt had never been changed. That was a waste of a good riding day.

I use an Airhawk on my ‘15 RT with tall comfort seat. It works great and definitely extends my riding comfort. Wish I had discovered it years ago.

For me, it’s been the increase in driver inattentiveness, as opposed to outright intentional malicious behavior.
What I have witnessed is a dramatic increase in speeding, tailgating, and ignoring traffic signals.

Re: Should I buy this RT
I don’t know the values in the UK used bike market but here in the states, that bike is priced about double what it should go for. I’d say £1500 tops. Not sure what could go wrong with the bike -- I’m sure others will chime in shortly -- but any vehicle that has 170k miles on it seems like it has be...
