Re: Ground Anchor

Hi Casbar, A few years back I bought one of these for the GT:  http://securityforbikes.com/anti-pinch-pin.php Easy to use, but you need the precise padlock to fit in the rebate (a Squire I think).  Doesn't solve what to do when touring though because the chain pin and lock weigh a ...

Re: It's here, with an unexpected gift

The bike came on Metzelers but I like PR4s though and had them on my old GT.  Metzelers are still a bit of an unknown, but they are just about scrubbed in now and feel fine in the dry, wet experimentation to follow.  The RT leans well!  The Z8s seem to tramline a bit on ro...

Re: It's here, with an unexpected gift

Well, I went the new tyre option.  The tyre supplier I use (Micheldever) would not repair a Z rated tyre.  As mentioned above, it could lead to a difficult insurance discussion if the worst happened at some point.  So, swallow hard, I paid the man £124 and got a new Metzel...

It's here, with an unexpected gift

Well the great day (Weds) came and I rode the trusty old 13GT west to CW in Dorchester.  How many of us ride our bikes for the last time and think 'Why...'  Anyway, CW had done a great job in sourcing an Ebony RT from the factory, the handover was done, and I set sail.  Al...

Re: RainX on windscreen?

Not yet found anything that really stops them from sticking - not tried Pledge though.  I just chuck a wet towel over the screen when I get back from a ride. Take it off about 20 mins later and anything that's left just wipes off.  Works on the GT anyway - pick up the new RT on Weds.

Re: The deal is done - New owner of a 2016 BMW R 1200 RT!!!

Nice one Methos - enjoy! My new one (also Ebony) just left the factory en route to the dealer (CW).  Should collect it next Saturday.  CW are also supplying head covers and a Nav V, and the box from Nippy Norman's arrived yesterday.  That's got a fender extender, clear fil...

Re: Now to buy some shiny stuff

Thanks guys, you are right of course.  I reckon sticking a nearly new Garmin 340LM, Touratech cradle and Touratech bar mount thingy for the GT on Flea Bay should get me maybe £250, plus there's the saving on the bar I needed to buy, so a Nav V is not that far away.  Let the wisdom ...

Re: Now to buy some shiny stuff

Sorry I should have been clearer above.  This is the mount I've found: https://www.motorcycleparts-hornig.com/BMW-R-1200-RT-LC/Navigation-and-Communication/GPS-Mount-R1200RT-LC.html.  Looks quick and easy provided I can find a spare canbus power feed.  The 340 only needs p...

Re: Now to buy some shiny stuff

Thanks for all the great suggestions.  I think it will be head protectors for me.  An accident big enough to damage the engine..... hmmm, crash bars low on the list of priorities.  Far more likely I'll drop it while paddling about. Has anyone tried to fit a Zumo 340 type c...

Now to buy some shiny stuff

Hello All, Newbie here. Just ordered a new RT and pondering some options. Thinking about some protection for the heads (one day I'll drop it, right?). Does anybody have a view on Touratech engine bars vs the bolt on head protectors? Also, I need to mount a nearly new Zumo340 somehow. It has a Canbus...
